Same goes for me...
Without knowing the prepub mag I thought that Nana was more Shojo than Josei ...Same thing for Nodame cantabile . Just because they weren't old enough . Characters are teenagers or at least they're not totally mature .
Kimi wa pet tackles with real problem of mature woman (how to reach a a balance between career and personnal life for a career woman ? what are the expectancy of the woman considering the man they'll commit with the infamous 3H ? most generally speaking there are all those little ugly details that make up an adult life )
It's by far the most josei of all the title .

But as this classification is a bit arbitrary (Deathnote is sometimes classified as a shonen sometimes as a seinen . MPD psycho is utterly violent but is published in a shonen prepub magazine) I just thought other elements I didn't know had been taken into account.... alway a delight to hear i was not mistaken .... 😀

I voted for Nodame, because I always look forward to reading the newest releases. I'm also reading NANA, however, I haven't got the motivation to view the newest scans because I don't know if I can take any more of that drama (sorry). That or I'm too lazy to read it online. As for Kimi wa Petto, I have it on my wish list and the fact that it's popular here makes me want to read it now. D:

Well, technically NANA does fall under the shoujo category because it is serialized in Cookie, but it definitely has some Josei elements.

Man, I was hoping NANA would put up more of a fight because I think it's superior to Nodame. OK, I've only read 56 chapters of Nodame and though I found it funny, I seriously didn't understand the hype. I must be the only person who found her character to be pretty annoying after a while.

While I can understand why some people aren't all for the NANA drama, but in terms of character development and realism, I would give NANA the edge. Nodame was too much of a caricature for my tastes.

Well superior or not, people have enough drama in their own lives to also read it in the manga. Saying that, I always prefered manga that wasn't so overdramatic, because it makes me depressed. So yeah Nana is good and all that, but it's worth goes down because of so much of the dramatic development. If I want drama I go out and see the real world. XD

My vote goes for Nodame.

Similarly, I could also say that there are plenty of other people who don't have that type of drama in their lives and therefore go out of their way to read/watch material that does have this element. Why else do you think people watch soap operas or films that are classified as dramas? It's unfortunate that drama depresses you because I doubt that it's any creator's intent to make anyone feel that way with their work. Sure, they might want you to empathize with the characters and their situations, but I doubt that they want you to be depressed about it.

Obviously this poll is purely based on opinion and everyone's qualifying criteria for the "best" will vary. It's my opinion that the best title should go to a manga that's well-written and well-drawn. Personally, I think NANA best fits this description. In comparison to Nodame, NANA, IMO, has more realistic and more complex characters. If I were to read a very controversial scene in NANA, I could realistically try to interpret a character's motivations by looking at their past actions and make my own assumptions because that character has depth. For instance, if Hachi is afraid to face her best friend, I know it's because she's the kind to run away from her problems. She has issues with confrontation, love, self-esteem and countless others. Nodame, on the other hand, is rather one-dimensional. She's simple - she likes food, cartoons (ack, I can't recall that anime she's obsessed with), the piano, and Chiaki of course. Her motivations are generally fueled by her love for these things. Don't get me wrong, it's some of these things about her that make Nodame funny, but it also makes her character flat.

Once again this falls to preference, but I find the art for NANA to also have the advantage. Because Ai Yazawa's art is slightly better, she can convey more nuance with her artwork. You don't really get that with Nodame, so it come off as slightly more cartoonish and fantastic, which is fine if that's what you like.

I apologize if I got long-winded there, but I felt that I should at least make a good argument for one of my favorite manga.

Of course, I can totally agree, that whatever I said it's only my own opinion based on the way I think about those series and by no means I want to put my decision on others.

Still I prefer more lighthearted stories that drama and that's my opinion. XD
Thanks for your comment on that.
