He did train with the Vizards but the hollow with in him did say if Ichigo slipped even a little bit he'd be there to rip back control and take over.

I don't really see a different aside from the fact that so far his mask has stayed in place for probably 8 panels instead of it disapearing in the next one. So maybe he'll keep it on a bit longer this time around.

Perhaps it's as one of the aranca said, inorder for ichigo to defeat the higher ones, he needs to become a demon. The hollow in him is evil, so perhaps he needs to bring out the darkness in him to use it for his own purposes. Maybe that's what holding him back from keeping the mask on for more than 8 seconds.
