Have you ever thought that it's best for some couple in Yaoi/Shounen-ai mangas...be portrayed as hetero couple instead?
Take Hanamuko-san and Yome ni Konai ka as examples..
Yome ni Konai ka did well in using the marriage life between gay couple as a comedy, Hanamuko-san focuses on arranged marriage, I mean sure, the story is interesting but I can't convinced myself that the uke is a man, he's a very feminine 'wife' in a male's body, the plot could have been more realistic..or sensible from a hetero-couple perspective. Personally, this manga could have been better if it's a normal shoujo romance.
Another example is Shounen-ai manga like 1001 nights, it doesnt make any difference if the mangakas made Sehara into a woman just like in the original work, personally, I prefer seeing a real Scheherazade..as the Sultan's wife. It would be interesting to see a wise and dutiful female heroin once in a while.
Then there's Okane ga nai..The uke in the yaoi version can easily be replaced by Shinju from Toriko - Aigan Shoujo.

This has been discussed many a time before... ad infinitum with the same results.
May of these series are for females that don't want to have competition when fantasizing about the characters; so, they gave dicks to chicks and lopped off their breasts. Also, they can fantasize about misogynistic beaters because they aren't reading about a male that hurts a female... but a male hurting another "male".
