Pink Floyd - The Wall
Roadrunner United - The all-stars sessions

and idk bout these ones, but its one of my fav nonetheless.
The Black Keys - Rubber Factory
Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory

the last two aren't ment to be the best category but they are good, nonetheless.

I love you for that one

um.... what was the point of that

The point of it was that most of the best albums of all time are on that list. Isn't this what the thread is all about? And before you contradict me, the fact that these are the top best selling albums of all time proves that they are also really good because of such huge recognition. So many people wouldn't buy something that wasn't good.

Do you seriously believe this crap ? Because a lot of people buy something, it has to be good ? Gosh that's so stupid I'm speechless
Agreed.

while it may be the most recognized it doesn't mean that its the best.

and i thought you were one of the reasonable ones here xtr3m3dude....
LOL vanillla ice, MC hammer, cher, and ricky martin's on dat list...

I see that music can be a very touchy subject with some people.
I suppose I am not correct for saying that these are the "best" albums. But you can't really say they aren't the "best" either because everyone has different tastes and what one considers to be the "best" could be considered the "worst" by another person.

Actually I myself don't like quite a bit thats on that list.
Keeping that in mind the reason I used the word "best" is because I assumed you guys meant albums that were most widely acclaimed/recognized/liked. Even if you don't think that something should have sold that much because you didn't like it doesn't make it bad, because many other people did like it.

Anyway I will only say that I should have used "popular" instead of "best". I was in a hurry when I posted and didn't look carefully trough the list (most of the stuff seemed good when I glanced at it first time). You can't really argue about which album is best because of huge differences in the tastes of people.

@ dacbiet - What makes you say that Cher or Ricky Martin don't belong on that list? As far as I know there is quite a few people that like their work even if you don't.

^ fair enough. When I started thid thread, it was solely a subjective question. It like a 'favorite' in one respect and 'quality' in another respect. Wolfmother is an excellent album, but it is not ne of my favorites. That is what I meant/wondered. For the record, I think that several of those albums are great i.e. Back in Black and Hotel California (both of which I have on vinyl) but the Eagles: Greatest Hits album ranks higher, and greatest hit albums take away from the album experience. That is why I don't want to get The Mothership(Led Zeppelin). Fans of many of the bands listen in that list would argue the placement of the albums based on quality as a whole.

I guess what I mean is that a single can sell an album. (ie backstreet boys)

Umm, darn I never even stopped to think about that... It's entirely true though, a hit single can sell a whole album. I suppose thats how quite some of the best selling albums became best-sellers.

Edit: Try listening to some of the stuff Weird All records. Its great! Some of my favorite songs were spoofed by him and he actually gives the originals a run for their money!

36 Chambers - Wu Tang Clan

The best Hip-Hop album ever made! The raw style and intensity still hasn't been touched to this day.

i kinda(stressed) disagree, just because it has too much competition.

rawness: ready to die , doe or die

intensity: the infamous, lol only built for cuban lynx.

best of both worlds: illmatic, reasonable doubt

Yeah but you would have to know the story behind the album. This album pretty much created the feel for rap today. It also was created in RZA's basement, recorded with very cheap equipment and it shows in how gritty and rough the feel of it is. They used an empty shower as a their mic stage for christ's sake. That is the epitome of underground and gritty hip-hop. It's kinda like if you took rap and stripped out all the glitzy shit and just left hardcore, ghetto ass hip-hop. That is how it's supposed to be. It is some buddies laying a lyric down on a track with other homies.

Wu Tang brought the street to hip-hop. There would be none of the albums you are talking about without Wu.

I gotta agree with Mista Satan on this one. Although Straight Out of Compton would give 36 Chambers a run for it's money.

This is ONLY pertaining to hip hop. Removing from the discussion Hip Hop, as far as rawness, the Black Keys have a corner on that. Most Garage bands just copy the style. The Black Keys recorded their first album in Patrick Carney's basement. The Rubber Factory was recorded in.... a rubber factory. For those who enjoy Hip Hop, please listen to the Black Keys.
