I don't think this series counts as hentai

So could whoever keeps changing the genres stop putting in hentai? Yes, it's definitely an erotic series but it was not published in an 18+ magazine, which unless I'm mistaken is the criteria for "hentai." Although legally the first volume can only be sold as 18+ that's only in Tokyo and the second volume didn't receive that designation. It's a bit of an anomaly but I think it makes more sense to leave out "hentai" considering it's not considered an adults only series in the majority of Japan.
The reason it has the "smut" genre is so people know they're getting something with a lot of sex so I don't think readers are misinformed here.

'One of the first series to have a volume deemed "harmful" under Tokyo's Bill 156.'
Would certainly justify the borderline H tag.
borderline H is not hentai, its... well borderline.
the difference mainly being the amount of plot to sex ratio.
a hentai typically has several pages devoted to the act of sex, usually more than half a chapter.

Yes! As long as penis-kun and vagina-san stay obscured in their respective light cocoons, it's borderline H! B-O-R-D-E-R-L-I-N-E - H, I SAY!
Personally, I like to read such a series with an uncapped, permanent marker at my side. Brings back youthful memories spent reading tantalizing periodicals in the Penthouse my mother discovered, censored, and returned to it's obviously crummy hiding spot underneath my bed. Ahhh... there are a wide variety of wonders in this world made to block cock, both metaphorically and physically, but I tell you this: few things block it better than the thick lather and harsh industrial smell of a pre-1998 Sharpie King Size. Proof positive that the Eighth constitutional amendment is a farce - nothing more that a worthless scrap of paper.
Anyway.

Actually, it doesn't have a smut tag. I don't yet have the credentials to change it (I just put in a request, but that'll take some time), so if someone could tack on that smut tag sooner, that'd be real keen of you.

At the time I wrote the message I had it under the genres... I'll put it there again I guess but people always seem to remove the "smut" genre for some reason. I don't know why. I had to keep editing it back into Aki-Sora too.

"Smut" (when used as a genre) is a term created by Western fans to categorize a trend of shoujo manga that depicts explicit sexual material that began around the early nineties.
Quote from Dr. Love
Smut can not be applied to male-aimed manga. (e.g. Shounen/Seinen)
Hopefully nobody is going to argue about this series' target audience.

If that's the case, then that should be made clear in the genres tab.
Quote from Smut as defined by the genres tab on this site
Deals with series that are considered profane or offensive, particularly with regards to sexual content.
Quite misleading, yes? Wrong information is useless information and misunderstandings will continue to occur if it's not corrected. I for one have no reason to define 'smut' as a shoujo/josei only term, as this site uses a textbook definition to describe it, rather than the "genre definition" you've provided.
However, that's fine, as I stand corrected. Besides, the 'adult' tag should provide anyone with all the information they need in regards to this series' sexual content.
But an admin or whoever should seriously consider redefining "smut" in the genres tab, otherwise this will just keep happening.
@gringe
Anyway, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for changing those cruel moonrunes into English, and know that, despite this now "gimme my shit n' I don't care where I get it or who gives it to me" world that scanlation has become, there are still people like myself who look and note the names involved with what it is I'm reading. So, thank you, well done, and keep fighting the good fight.

I've added smut back 🙂
You shouldn't. Allez is correct.

Hey, no problem. I hope you enjoyed it. My group still does things the old way and I don't really want to get involved with all the nonsense that's going on these days so we're probably going to stay this way...

I've been here for years and I wasn't aware that "smut" was used here to specifically refer to shoujo stuff. I assumed it was used as defined in the genres page and in dictionaries, which would mean it can refer to anything.
