This week's poll was suggested almost 10 years ago by StarlightDreams. If you read manga, you should know what ecchi means, so I'm not even gonna put "what is ecchi?" as an option
You can submit poll ideas here
http://www.mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?tid=3903
Previous Poll Results:
Question: Opinion on deus ex machina in manga
Choices:
Love it - votes: 299 (6.6%)
Hate it - votes: 461 (10.2%)
It's okay... - votes: 447 (9.9%)
Only if it's funny - votes: 396 (8.7%)
Only if it's creative - votes: 1609 (35.5%)
What are you talking about? - votes: 1317 (29.1%)
There were 4529 total votes.
The poll ended: April 28th 2018
Stranded in the middle of nowhere surrounded by water or lava? Just summon that giant eagle to pick you up
A just ruler amongst tyrants
Indifferent, only if the story and plot is good can ecchi be good too mmm...
Ecchi for the sake of comedy or moving story is good, but ecchi just for fan service, I don't enjoy it as much anymore mmm...
So I guess I pick "** I enjoy it, but it's not the best thing ever ** mmm...
I will change this world mmm...
So the world can change me mmm...

No opinion really.
But, it would be nice if there is no annoying amount of it. Also no panty jokes/skits and loli stuff, they're hella annoying, silly, childish, no-fun at all, pieces of crap.

This is a shitty poll. 4 of the 6 options are negative and one is neutral. There are levels between "no opinion really" and "love it!". Jeez people. Can you fix the poll so its not utter nonsense?

Actively avoid it. There are a couple of ecchi manga I love for their plot and characters (Get Backers especially comes to mind), but it's filtered from my release list, and unless I'm 100% convinced that the plot and/or characters are worth the torment, I'll never pick up an ecchi title, whether anime or manga.
That being said, what I hate the most is the "holy" trinity of ecchi, romance and harem. Plain old ecchi without romance or harem is pretty whatever, I guess.

Hey, sex sells, it always has.......no real strong opinion myself (I voted for "enjoy it"), but yeah, as has been said, it's just another part of the story/work, if the rest of it ain't no good.......it's just some vehicle to show a lot of T and A.......yeah, booooo!! D:

You are misunderstanding something, or maybe the options were changed after your comment. Currently there are 2 negative options, 2 neutral options, and 2 positive options:
"Hate it with a passion" & "Actively avoid it" - negative.
"Mostly ignore it" & "No opinion really" - neutral.
"Love it! Only thing I read!" & "I enjoy it, but it's not the best thing ever" - positive.
Regarding "Mostly ignore it", it likely means that reader mostly ignores the ecchi, he doesn't care too much about its presence, not that he ignores manga with it.
It´s hard to choose an answer, as i don´t want to burn it all down on principle. Actively avoid it has to be it then. Just that i stop after ch. 1, unless i know that the author is crap beforehand.
Sex comedies don´t have to be shit on principle but it´s hard to defend this sinking ship. It and harem have about the lowest quality standards there are. Hentai will further give you more bang for your buck, so what´s the point? Nothing against explicit sex in media though. YOSHIDA Motoi or Lars von Trier know what´s up. Dito for Image´s Saga or Sex Criminals. These have sex scenes that would be illegal in a Japanese publication. Switch to US/EU comics if you want to see real sex in comics. You will also be spared all the pederast crap, unless that´s what you want. Good old Ecchi certainly has you covered there...
I also read EU/US comics and am a librarian.

To paraphrase my friend, ecchi is like a sports car with its quirks like firm suspension, low ride height and so on. It makes a road(plot) full of holes feel even worse, but if it's nice, smooth and well laid out, then it improves the experience. There's no good answer in the poll for this line of thought, but since I usually don't pick series for their ecchiness, I guess "Mostly ignore it" is the closest?

Actively avoid it. I'd rather read straight up hentai than read ecchi. Either go all the way, or don't go at all. 😁

I agree with this line of thinking. I don't mind a bit of ecchi or fanservice as long as it doesn't get in the way of plot or turn the whole story to shit. Like Nononono, starts off as a gender-bender sports manga with a touch of romance and some tragic backstory to some convoluted mess
with multiple molestations, perverts blackmailing the main character to wear a dog collar naked while rubbing her boobs iirc and other attempted rape (and murder) scenes . That's when I checked the author and realized it was the mangaka for Elfen Lied. I never really understood the draw of that manga. I think I read up to volume 5/12 before deciding it just wasn't for me.

"I enjoy it, but it's not the best thing ever" was my choice. Honestly, if it has some central meaning to the plot I think its fine. I mean, if the world will explode if a protagonist see's panties, then that's a central plot device.
In the end, I've been a lurker for the past few years and only recently have started to actively leverage MangaUpdates to track and find Manga. I regret if I've missed something and would actively welcome advice on what it is that I may have missed with regards to the site, categories, and tags.
Where I do become disappointed is when Manga are categorized as "Hentai" when the existence of the sexual themes is a central point in a otherwise well developed plot. There are some good Manga out there that are, in my opinion, identified in that manner. I do suppose thats why the Borderline-H tag exists. Yet, there is still room for error even with that tag.
Some of my favorite random manga have turned out to be tagged with Hentai when, to me, they don't meet the criteria of showing explicit scenes without a developed plot device. Yet, then I suppose its up to the reader to decide what is, and what isn't, a worthwhile plot.
Perhaps an 'Explicit' category would be more useful to identifying Manga where gratuitous sex is not the central point of the panels.

I liked Nononono, and ski jumping was original as an idea and seemed well researched. But it had low sales and they decided to rev up the creepy fanservice to the nth degree which ruined it for me.
