Youve read Berserk...right?

I was introduced into berserk from the anime, the manga is far better in the fact that it kinda makes since, the anime left parts out of the story so that it could end where it did. the manga introduces the king. (Vagueness implied so not to spoil it)
if you ever refer to me in light of the complex manga (http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=1731)
I will hunt you down and kill you!

ok, the Art isn't bad. I just got really freaked out by a nasty scene out of nowhere.....it does qualify as a Manga Epic. It's an original fairy tale with Anti hero and this 'the whole world against the main character' scenario. Not exactly your happy manga. More like Blame! Nothing happy happens. If it did, it would be destroyed on the next chapter. And I have Spoken! Also, This manga contains more western aspect then Eastern. Even though it is made by Korean. But still......there is just so much adult material.
It's got child molestaters, prostetuites, rapist, cannibals, gay rapist. My god, it goes on and on. By the end of the series, every major character has either been violated or raped or slept with someone for something.
Yes Griffith slept with a perverted old baron for money. You would've never expected it would you? It's like, Damn....that is a screwed up world.

Personally, I put off reading this manga for the longest time (not exactly sure why) but I had always wanted to read it. I finally took that first step last weekend, and well damn I'm hooked on this story so much. I'm not entirely caught up (just finished vol. 22) but yes I am aware that once I get caught up the pace will be much slower...but I'm ready. The story is so great, and even though there's a dark theme to it and death is everywhere, there are some (not many) good things that happen here and there...and the comedy in it (though not a big part) is nice to see sometimes.
The art is great, I think some of these characters are just awsome (i.e. Skull Knight, Zodd, among others).
Though the story may not be unique and it has the usual Shonen tones (beat opponent and then move on to stronger ones) this is still such a great read.

The problem is not only the slow pace, but also the exaggereation of how many sick people there are. Seriously, how many times do they have to bring up the rapist and the molesters. seems to me almost everyone is a rapist in the manga......

Though yes i do think its exaggerated, I think its a necessary element of the story. It shows shows us the evilness of it all, and personally it always makes me want to beat the crap outta them monsters and it's so awsome when Gats (?) finally ends up doing so. It's all part of the plot. Though probably unnecessary it still serves to add to the story (it is an epic after all).
Haha but I do think it kind of desensitizes the reader since after a while and after seeing so much blood and corpses...i find i don't get bothered by it as much as i used to when i started reading it.

Well, Berserk is a lot like Doom, if you played it before. They look alike too. Gats and the guy in Doom.
Pfff.....Berserk is just too much.

oh cool. Tell us your opinion after you finish.
Hmm....strange....berserk seems to be settling down now.....not so gory and disgusting. More fantasy component. I hope it doesn't become the lord of the ring or something.....

then he got this cool armor. The main point is the story is kind of bright now. no main characters died so far....... I mean in the later chapters.
I say Blame! is still pretty depressing, everyone dies. I mean EVERYONE. You don't even know what the hell happened at the end. Thank goodness there's a sequel. Blame: NSE.

I haven't read it, & if it has a lot of "monster rape" as I'm hearing, I don't think I want to x.x

its very graphic too. NOTHING is censored. and I mean NOTHING. I'm still afraid of that horse turning into a monster trying to do stuff......
