about the teacher? I kinda completely missed shounen ai reference in that o_O; kind of thought of it the same way a normal sex scene/innuendo would be outside the hentai. There is no love/romance in it too, more of abuse/exploit

as for Student/Teacher shoujo, someone already mentioned Sensei, that was pretty nice.

Switch surprised me honestly. It just suddenly turned BL in the later chapters.

ares6, I was kidding. I have no desire to read either yaoi or mangas about rape. Unless I happen to make a manga in which I'm the main character who happens to fall into a harem of beautiful desperate women that rape ME. Then that would be acceptable. What is BL by the way, I'm 'open' to all types of mangas really except for yaoi.

Oh, that was what I was kinda thinking it meant. Still gotta love the filter feature for this site. What works for one person doesn't necessarily work for another after all. Cause I know that that yaoi is not for me, yet I have no problem with Yuri mangas whatsoever.

There are no absolute rules on this of course, but my understanding is:

BL = "boys' love", romance/love between boys but generally nothing explicit

shounen-ai = essentially same as BL, Japanese for "boy-love"

yaoi = can be "soft" or "hard" & has varying degrees of explicit sex between men/boys

I, personally, have only read a few shounen-ai, decided they were not for me, and have steered clear of yaoi, so my categories may be off since I'm not an expert in the field, but I'm pretty sure that's how it goes.

agrees with tofuqueen shounen ai generally doesn't involve anything too graphic, definitely no sex involved.

I've read yaoi and I'm fine with it, although I don't really understand why people go crazy over them. Sure, the guys are pretty hot, but that's about it shrugs

Actually, I wasn't talking about that one.. ^^; Sorry, I didn't realize until you pointed it out that there were two.. But the shoujo Switch isn't BL at all (unless I'm delusional and I have a memory like a sieve.. XD). It's more like a kind of bittersweet teacher-student manga.

Still, I'm okay with shounen ai/BL, though I haven't really seen a lot of good ones (maybe because I haven't really been looking around? XD😉, so thanks for the rec. ^^

Though I think the most messed up part was that Akito dressed like, and pretended to be a guy, among the other Jiyuunshi (prob. not spelling it right xD) . The other stuff doesn't bother me as much, like the way Yuki wanted to have a mother in Tohru. I didn't think it was a big deal, but the manga-ka wanted it to be, didn't she? >>; Gah.. stabs sieve-like mind

Yeah, Rika-chan was like even younger than ten! She was probably around 8 or 9 😀 but the teacher had to be in his early thirties, if not mid-20's 😃 It sounds like a lolicon sort of thing, but it wasn't at all. I found their relationship really adorable though! Just sooo kawaii~

Someone else mentioned Fruits Basket, and that's what I first thought of! I buy the manga as it's released in America, so I'm only in the 16th volume, but yeah that was sooo sad with Tohru's mother and Katsuya-papa...I cried 😢 Gosh, I do not get what I am trying to say here...um, read it (to those who haven't already)? 😕

CLAMP has always been like that, so I wasn't surprised once I was told who Cardcaptor Sakura was by 🤣
I really wanted Touya and Yukito to be together! 😀 They looked really cute together and they fit together very well 😃 Besides, they love each other and that's what really matters 🙂
