"Have you ever been mistaken for the opposite gender?" More like has a day gone by where I wasn't?

At work they make me tie my hair back in a pony tail and I'm too skinny to fit into any of the male uniforms (not that there's any real difference between the male and female uniform, only what side the buttons are on) so that's a ****ing given every time. In normal life I often wear female boy style shirts because they fit better but oddly enough I've NEVER been mistaken as a girl when doing so, which is a huge WTF for me. Anyway once I turn around or speak people figure out they're mistaken... unless I start using my "girl voice" to mess with them.

Only once...and it was kinda rainy and a little dark...but it was my brother who mistook me. 😛 Cracked me up. He should know better. It's not like he didn't know I was dressed like that at the time, either. 😀

I've had that happen to me a few times, but only on the phone. I guess my voice sounds girlish on the phone.

Once, I guard on base said something like "your son needs to get his ID renewed" D: I think I was like 14 or something DDDD: my dad wasn't happy at all. Nor was i ;_;

thankfully ID pics are less than 1"x1" if he saw me in person and said that ;_;

I have a couple of times at work, but male and female do wear sort of the same uniforms. Also on the phone... i took a mesage for my sis and when the person phoned back they said that they "spoke to your brother" i was very annoyed >:-(

Nope. My hair's always been to my shoulders at least, and most guys my age with long hair don't take good care of it, so even theirs doesn't look a thing like mine. Plus I was a really, really girly kid, so I was always in dresses and stuff. That and I usually hang out with other girls, and seeing a bunch of girls together generally makes you assume everyone in that group is female. And I must have a pretty girly voice too or something, because even on really bad connections I've never been mistaken for a guy.

I have been mistaken for my mom when on the phone, though. Often. Like, every single day, at least once, more often three or four times. It's been happening for about a year now, and neither of us can stand it. Even my dad can't tell us apart. Though, looking on the bright side, it can be pretty fun to confuse people...

when I was about 6 years old, I decided I wanted to be a boy for 1 day... so I went put on my brothers clothes, put on a wig with short hair(no Idea why we had that thing but it was totally realistic I swear), wore a hat and tried to convince random strangers I was a boy(yes I did)
It didnt work.....
I seem to have looked "cute" and "spicy"(thats what they said) -_-'
So my being mistaken for the other gender plan failed...
so no...never been mistaken not even on the phone XD

Yes, all the time online. That's when I started changing my username from ajanime to ajanimegirl on most sites I'm on. No one ever mistakes me for a boy in real life. Maybe it's because I like shounen and criticize the shallow and retarded shoujos. Girls can't all be fluffy airheads.

If it looks like a man, walk likes a man, talks like a man, smells like a man, then goddammit it's a man

Yea that's true, but conversely: if it looks like a girl, walks like a girl, talks like a girl, smells like a girl, then it MAY not necessarily be a girl.

Atta boy! That sounds like RL! Been burnt by it? lol...I used to have short hair and wore baggy jackets and my average height was taller than some in my country as in gals (m 5'5") so sometimes I would be mistaken as a guy from back. In MU, I guess no guy would keep this user name.. 😀

And boys can't all be brainless powerhouses, like in shounen. But that's the way the genres roll. Still have yet to be confused with being a girl.
