Have you ever been mistaken for the opposite gender?

well..i have often mistaken for a boy when my friends mention my name to their parents...they think that im a guy...cause i dont like it when people call me with my full name...so they just call me by my initials which is C.J.
My name often gets people thinking I'm male as well because it's my nickname. My full name is too formal I recon so I prefer to be called by my nick. Shame it's a commonly used male name.
The parent incident happened to me recently as well. My friend was saying she was going over to mine and they were like "What? you're going over to a Mister?!"

All the time. Actually the kids in the younger classes at my school who don't know me don't know my gender. They took to trying to guess every time I walk past and have elaborated many different hypothesis, the most popular being I'm just really gay (?)
So to have a go at them I started using different pronouns every now and then and changing my voice and using both female and male bathrooms. The poor things are lost, it's so fun 🙄
Only as a child but then quite a lot. Now i may have very long hair(my female co-workers are jealous) but even form behind my baggy clothes with videogame and "metal"/military designs make me recognisable as male. I do though have "female" hand and long eyelashes so nature may have been a bit confused when i was designed.
The phone trick would´t work with me because of my accent.
I also read EU/US comics and am a librarian.

I have been mistaken for a boy. Someone asked my Mom "Is your son ready to go back to school?"

As a 14 years old I was called "sir" and when I was 15-16 there were a few instances people have thought me to be a boy. I try keeping my hair longer to offset my more masculine features but even with long hair I was mistaken for a boy a few times. Its been better now that I wear makeup, and "grew into my features". Hasn't been mistaken since although I make an effort not to deepen my voice and to smile instead of smirk.
Chicks dig dat.

It's funny, to me, it happened several times in a short period and I lost a chunk of my self-confidence for a while, then built it up right away.
So, what I clearly remember is that one of the girls asked me, when I entered the school bathroom: "You know this is for girls, right?" (That day I wore the worst combination of plain clothes a girl could ever wear. No wonder, right? And my figure's not bad, I'm just thin and tall. Oh, and I cut my hair short recently back then. I think...) And one teacher asked me to go and buy her a sandwich but not before she coldly asked what my gender was. (Advice to you people, don't question others such a thing, just wait until you're sure. 😀 ) These were the worst that happened. There were several instances later on, not so shocking, but nothing could throw me out of balance anymore after I happened to live through some other embarrassments and offenses. I must have looked horrible then. 🤣 It's not like I'm doing anything special about my appearance right now... Bad looking as ever. 😁 All in all, it's all about your attitude. And a bit of a good rest and healthy diet. 😉
Lol..
Add, 'clothes' in that last line
You won't be mistaken for the opposite gender then 😉
Oh, also, make up, prolly

Yeah, I wanted to say that but it requires more than necessary effort in being who you are. Since the world today is full of different styles, it's not surprising you're not positive sometimes, because you take in consideration both options, even rare cases. 🙂
In my case, make-up is definitely not something I'm keen on and I think that using it would require an expert at first to do it for me, putting even a little, with my skills right now, which don't stand a chance to develop on my own, makes me as ugly as Venetian jester. 🤢 Something natural would be just fine occasionally. While my wardrobe nowadays clearly shows I'm a woman. Except I despise dresses and skirts. 🤣

Fairly Often, I have really long hair. Like hair long enough that I can accidentally sit on it. Which I always stick in a pony tail. Also I'm pretty tall and very skinny, enough so that I can pull off most Crossplay pretty easily. I've trolled 1000s of people who didn't realize it till afterwards. Some of my best memories at cons. More over I Also like to wear well fitted clothing, often times a dress shirt and skinny pants.
More or less If you're looking at me from behind I often get mistaken for a girl. Although when I talk or you look from the front it's amazingly obvious. Very much so because I have a bit of facial hair and a deep voice.
Usually It's a fun laugh and many people are impressed with the hair. I have quiet a few good stories, like one time where I was going through a laser maze and used my hair as a scarf from triggering the trip wires. It's a great conversation topic and I meet a lot of people who wouldn't normally stop to chat.

Once when I was hitchhiking, a guy who picked me up said "I thought you were a guy, I wouldn't have picked you up otherwise"... but I have long hair and was wearing a pink jacket, so I'm not sure whether he seriously thought I was a guy or whether he just wanted an excuse to tell his blackmailed-by-female-hitchhiker story. 🙂

I used to be mistaken for a guy half the time when I had my hair really short and wore baggy clothes Was pretty funny because some people knew I was a girl immediately and sometimes they called me 'young man!'

No, I have not. But my ex once thought that it was my brother answering my phone. I was trying to make my voice quieter but it, instead, got deeper.
