I'm looking into the differences of a portrayal of a gay couple in public or with friends. In most they are afraid of being seen, but other comics have them completely ignoring other people as if they don't care that people know they are gay. In some, friends know or suspect they are dating, in others it's a big secret and they are never told. So I want comics which specifically address either aspect. By them being worried about being seen, being caught and rumors spread, job loss, someone mentioning that gay stuff is gross, hiding secrets from friends. Or, by telling their friends and family, holding hands and kissing in public, people setting them up and showing support.

If you remember the chapter, that would be most appreciated, but I'll be happy with just titles as well.

If you're still looking for something like this:

Liquor and Cigarettes by ZARIYA Ranmaru

features a couple from the same group of friends, 1 of whom is openly gay (side character) and 2 are bisexual (main characters).

There is a scene where the bisexual couple are walking down the busy street holding hands and one of them worries about attracting too much attention. He also wonders what living openly in a gay relationship would be like.

In the end:

The friends group doesn't treat the bisexual couple any differently after they get together.

The entirety of Koimonogatari (TAGURA Tohru) fits the bill. It's all about how gay people deal with the rest of the world and has many of the things you asked for like being found out, telling parents, hiding from friends, telling friends, rumors, being accepted, being called gross, having a system of support, having no system of support...etc. Keep in mind quite a bit of it is "slice of life" (especially the beginning), meaning, students just doing mundane everyday things.
