I adore the art and plot - but man does it move slowly. really curious about where we'll end up because it's all in the air right now.

Seriously

This manga portrays youth dealing with romance, friendship, sexuality, and acceptance. I only know people's experiences being in the closet or being out, and this manga pretty much fits these. So I hope that aspect is indeed realistic. Other aspects are realistic, though.

Characters are so nicely written. They're not perfect, and thankfully they know it, as they try to "make up" for their flaws. They're not written too extravagantly, like a yes-man. I know lots of people like them in real life.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Honestly, I don't want Yuiji and Yamato to end up together as lovers... It's like they were made to be friends... I just want each of them to get their own happiness without them being in a romantic relationship or falling in love with one another. They're just so... friends. Haha... I hope someone also thinks this way.

Touching Character Perspectives

This is the BEST manga I've read which treads on the topic of growing up gay. The fear, the anxiety, the hiding, the ways things can go wrong, the ways things turn out OK — it quite thoroughly spells it out.

Also, to emphasize, I think that this is NOT a love story, rather, it's a coming-of-age story of a gay youth in Japanese society.

if you're looking for "i like you-lets have sex" stories than this one isn't for you.
it's proceeding at a very slow and steady pace and at the moment seems to be more about friendship and accepting yourself and others for who they really are rather then about love in particular. i admit it though, like most of the readers i'm shipping our two protagonists, especially since yuiji is so apathetic when it comes to his girlfriend.
sadly, it seems like scanlator drop it/ disappeared so we may never know the ending. i hope someone else picks up the rest.

Realistic. Cute characters.

Usually, shounen ai or yaoi is very unrealistic and meant for pleasing a certain audience, but this one is different. The main character was created to show the thought process/reaction of an average high schooler after meeting someone gay for the first time, and throughout the manga you get to see the concerns that gay students actually have while growing up.

I always find flaws with anything I read (I wish I didn't), but regardless, I still feel that this is one of my favorite reads so far. However, I would not recommend this manga if you're just looking for the typical yaoi manga. It can be a bit boring or long for those who are not into this genre.

I love the art in this manga =D The story is also very sweet. I must say that it is a very slow manga but it works. I love how we get the POV of someone else and not the main protagonist in the beginning and I love how their friendship develops. Although there are people shipping them, I'm one of em, I still hope that they remain friends because their friendship is so very beautiful and touching.

Amazing manga

I stumbled upon this randomly and it has become one of my top 5 bl manga. It is very different in the best way possible. The characters are amazingly relatable and over-all pleasant and down to earth. Yuiji is one of my all time favourite characters in the manga world. What I absolutely loved about it and what sets it apart from the overwhelming majority of the manga is how realistic it is. So empathic. I am not exaggerating in telling you that I screenshoted a few pages because it provided some life insight. Things that I spent time unveilling that I need help with, this manga shook me up by mentioning them one by one; simply amazing! I just think it's a very valuable piece of work to read. No sex scenes as at the time of this review (do not let this bother you one bit, it has enough substance that you will not crave it). It has become one of those epic reads and a future reccommendation.

*sigh* i really need to start checking out if the mangas are finished or not, because I just read this one as far as it got and now I want so much more...
Also, keep in mind that this is a shonen-ai. While this is really amazing because the plots are usually better (the development is slower and more careful), it also means there isn't a lot of physical contact. I don't particularly mind when there are no explicit sex scenes, but I do wish the authors would at least tease us a little.
I can't say too much about this manga yet, because at some point the mangaka did say it was going to be another 3 volumes before she wrapped up the story, so there is probably a lot that's still going to happen.
I do like how little details are carefully done. All the characters are really well developed, even secondary ones. Hasegawa and Yamato are very realistic, with deep thoughts that are logical. The actions the characters take are also very real, too. Even the girls aren't as annoying as they usually are in yaoi manga.
The art fits well with the style of this story - which I'm starting to realize is one this author's characteristics. She writes about complicated matters (such as coming to terms with your sexuality, in this case) in a way that is light and easygoing. While I am one to go for drama and really angsy stories that make you hurt and cry all along, I kind of like the way she makes it seem very deep without making it over the top. The art is like that too. Simple, yet something about it is just meaningful.
I also never thought I would say this, but the pace of this manga is a little too slow for me. While I usually adore stories that take their damn time to unfold, and I do understand that adolescence is a difficult phase, especially for a gay person, I wish she would have spent half of those chapters on their thoughts (as the chapters are also very long) and more on...going forward? At this rate, I don't even know if Hasegawa and Yamato will fall in love with each other, or if they will just help each other through their difficulties with love and find their own happiness - which I would be EXTREMELY upset about.
I just need more before I can make up my mind about it. It seems to be lovely, but it could go bad if not taken into consideration.

Refreshing

Not being a yaoi or shonen ai fan, I have to say this one is pretty good.
Friendships and acceptance is a big theme in this manga.
The story is about homosexuality, but treat it as one of many issues high schoolers face, the problem with being different in that period of your life, trying to be accepted by your friends but your fear towards them by the idea they discover you, what society or your family might think.
The main guy doesnt seem to be gay, which I appreciate, but when the gay became the lead in some chapters, is good reading his thoughts.
This is refreshing and interesting. I really recommend this even If you dont like homosexuality mangas.
