My family members are certainly not trustworthy when I need an accurate answer on a manga. On the other hand, I wouldn't let someone deliver my paycheck just because he's a fellow otaku >.>

i've learned not to trust anybody especially family. they are all out for themselves plus if i something to one person i have no idea who they might then turn around and say that too.

That is who I trust.

I must say, that family members can't be automatically trusted...

I'm really bad at trusting people, and, as you said, too much mistrust can be quite bad, not only for yourself, but for others too... o_o

I voted "based on other criteria" but I'm not really sure what that criteria is... I've never thought about it, because I've never trusted anyone fully. Even the closest of friends/lovers.
But I guess honesty is a HUGE part of it. I cannot trust a dishonest person that much, even if they only lie occasionally. I just can't, I'm quite paranoid. xD

I completely trust only my close friends.
But some people tend to gain my trust quicker than others, sometimes oddly based only on intuition-fortunately, it proves to be right most of the times.

Based on personality.

I'll be honest, I don't even trust my friends. If I put too much trust in a person, it'll devastate me when they break it. Why invest in something that wont help you at all?

And I really don't expect anyone to trust me.

i put my trust in my country's government to bring us all down...

well i trust my family, they're a trustworthy bunch after all...guess i'm pretty lucky with that...
also there's few good friends i can count on...

but i don't, under any circumstances, trust any women.

Based on experience. I tend to give everyone "trust" only when I feel they've earned it. I like to think that I give everyone an equal chance though.

That said, depending on personality/appearance, I can be pretty skeptical.

So far I trust only one person, the rest being family or friends I will always treat with a degree of separation, will not loan things for too long and will only loan things I can replace if lost. Never, under no circumstance I will relly on someone to help me complete something or loan me something I need the most.
