learned photoshop through self-studying a few years ago. I learned but I'm not saying I'm good at it, I can just pretty much go through the basics. Tried manga coloring but I'm useless at it: first try

This is my first time actually trying to color a manga frame.
I did it with GIMP though, instead of PS (don't have it).And I don't feel like creating a new thread just for that. xD

Version 4
Version 5
Version 5a (with blood)The different versions are just different backgrounds. xD
i think i like version 2 the best - altho if you wanted to go for more of a grimy feel i like the darker blue (i think that was 3? ^^;; )
anywho- fantastic job and way to support gimp!! XD

Great job, especially since you did it with the GIMP.
I've tried working with GIMP before, but my mac is so slow that it's very frustrating to run GIMP. So, I just work with photoshop on a windows computer which I started learning about a month ago.
And my first manga coloring is my icon.

I haven't colored any mangas in forever. This is from Feb '08 - Shiro. Photobucket resized it after my submission, hence the blurriness. I don't have the original anymore :c
The only use my PS is getting lately is manga editing for scanlations. Paint Tool Sai is my preferred tool lately.
@Dr.Love - I'm impress at how well you are getting around with GIMP, I can never get use to it.
Okay, I colored my second pic.
Started with this, ended with this. Changes can still be made though, but as for now, I'm satisfied (and spent).

I don't use Photoshop because I don't have it, I tried coloring this one in Paint.net and it's my second picture.

I don't think I have much skill with it, I understand a couple of things, and then use them over and over to try and make a pic XDD
here's an example XP

Not insanely good but I tend to make some anime wallpapers from time to time.
cheers
I got the basic hang of Photoshop as soon as I started to use it. However, the whole layer & opacity thingy (I was a digital artist in the making back then) took me a bit to understand... lol... but I never did google up for help, so I got the hang of it all by myself.
Now I can work about 90% of it. ;P I know most of the features, and the only ones I don't know are probably the ones I've yet to discover. But I can do lotsss with it. When it comes to photo manipulation, photoshop plastic surgery is the best, haha. For scanlation? Pft, I got the hang of cleaning immediately, without the help of a tutorial. ;3

I don't actually use PS, but I use Paint.Net just a little bit for editing some pictures. Other than that, I don't use the editing soft ware much. Well, here's my contribution.
