i'm not this good with photoshop. Hah, I can change images sizes, make some avatar/signature/wallpaper, but nothing perfect. And I draw better with the pencil and eraser, =P

Well, I am now able to use CS4 for cleaning and typesetting manga.
It only took me like... Years to start (practicing).
I always had a recent photoshop version, but I never really tried...

Now I hope to get the hang of using a tablet. But I got it fairly recently.
Let's see how it goes. I hope I'll start in no later than two years. xD.

If what you wanna do is cleaning and typesetting, you don't need the latest one - especially not CS4.
IMO, CS4 is a piece of bloat-ware crap. I bet you won't even use 70% of the features it has.
Use an old version like CS. It's smaller and it runs faster :\

But i still find CS4 more complicated. CS3 is easier to use, imo.

That's what I use to edit manga since it gets the job done and doesn't slow my computer done. And the cloning tool in CS4 makes me all confused. 😐 I liked the one in PS7. ♥
I only use CS4 to make graphics since a lot of brushes nowadays are only fit for CS3+...

I vastly prefer the cloning tool in CS4. And I'm going to assume that once she gets the hang of cleaning scans she will get curious and try using the other tools. Having them isn't too big a deal. Especially when extra storage space is SO easy to get. $100 for 1 Terabyte External HD. Might as well. 🙂

I love Photoshop like crazy. I have an old version (7.0), but I use it a bunch. I have no professional training in it... just years of fiddling around. I do tons of stuff, but none of it is really passable...

I use photoshop to edit manga, colour manga and decorating pictures with fancy brushes.. and probably that's it. XD

Here's one I coloured. Don't look at the girl, I think her skin and hair colour looked too dark. XD

I wish photoshop could make up for my lack of artistic talent...I can't or colour with it any better than real life (which is pretty bad), though I've never tried to do any manga fixing stuff on it...

The only thing I've figured out to do it make "this is your brain on drugs" animations from precoloured pics

I'm experienced with Photoshop. I currently have Photoshop CS5 Extended.

I don't have Photoshop, but I have GIMP. I use it mostly for photomanipulations. (Althought I' am just getting started with it.) My painting skills are basically non-existant. But I try to get better at the moment.
