I think the Filipino vote would be split between Asian and Pacific Islander. Please don't tell me that the Philippines isn't part of Asia. It's located in Southeast Asia, in the same area as Vietnam, like how Japan is a Pacific Island in East Asia.

That would be Asian then, as India's considered part of South Asia :0 Unless I'm wrong and need to take geography again .-.

It doesn't matter what it's part of now, though, since this is an ethnic question. So I'm pretty surprised at all the people trying to argue with nationality.

Yes it is... We're just less outspoken about race and prefer other terms like european or anglo-saxon or of latin descent which all it means is we can feel superior about american racism when ours isn't much better

But Japanese people are still considered Asian...
My friend, and she's Filipino, says that she's a Pacific Islander.

I'd have gone for African Diaspora myself, but that's really academic. Gotta rep it for the Diaspora!

I see. That way you can feel superior to racial minorities and Americans! Very clever! 😉
(I'm only joking!!)
I have to admit though, to me European or Anglo-Saxon or of Latin Descent make more sense than "white"...
I think even though we've had history with racism in America we are very used to other races... we even joke about racism sometimes, although most of the time we try to be (maybe a little too) politically correct so as to not offend anybody. Though of course you can find actually racist people here too.

Forgive my curiosity, but are there many problems with racism in Portugal these days? Although, wouldn't you not have to deal with it as much since like 90% of people are Portuguese?
I am curious about Portugal... I want to visit there someday 🙂
I'm very surprised that the Caucasian votes is beating the Asian votes. Hm... I was for sure, Asians would win.

You also have to consider that there are some Asians that don't know how to read English.

Depends on your notion of problems... There are still plenty of prejudices but few cases of overt violence or outspoken hate... It's a bit of live and let live but no mingling... i guess the fact that there aren't many imigrants and that most speak portuguese helps...
It's still a nice country to visit though ;p beaches in the south, lots of historical/beautiful places, well basically everywhere, and and some stunning natural sights.
Shit now i've realized i actually have a rather nice country. What will i complain about now?
