people who rat out on scan groups

Omg, I can't believe anyone would do that. What an A**! Well I guess if you could get her Ip the only thing you could do is ban her as soon as she registers In a forum or log into IRC or something >:-(
But seriously how could she do something like that 😕 I guess I was naive to think that a manga lover would ever betray another like that... 😔 Makes me sad that there are stupid people like that... 😢 Besides, some people can't even get the mangas... Here in sweden we only have a few, otherwise I would have to order which would cost a lot! More than 10 usd, since we have to pay VAT and other stupid taxes...

Morally and Lawfully, reporting scan group would be justified. It is the correct action do execute, according to the law anyway. But it would then force me to buy manga. No offense to anyone personally, but the law is the law. Ever seen the woman holding a balance and a sword. It's justice and she's blind folded. Justice is blind.

i feel the same way, and there are those of us who don't have access to manga other than the net and there are also those of us who can't afford them. but i do buy once in a while if i see they're really good

I buy too, once they come out here. But the only thing that is flooded here is dragon ball z 🙁
There really aren't many good ones...

gotta agree with a few people here. I'd go broke quick smart if I bought all the manga I wanted to read, though I would not totally blame a person for reporting to tokyopop about the scanner even if it is annoying, thats the law I guess. Still, no way would I report myself! I still read scans whether they were illegal or not, so no way would I tell on them, that would be very hypocritical of me! lol.
LOL...I'm already broke and my local libraries don't carry enough manga to go around.

Yeah, I don't mind her reporting at all. Or maybe she's saying that people are scanning viz's translations of manga and distributing that in irc. Breaking copyright law is so common these days, that's it's almost accepted.

Justice definately isn't blind, more like bought out. Anyway, all I have to say about her is that she must have no life if she's going around finding sites to rat out. Also, the sites can stick on a notice on the front page forbidding anyone from certain companies or government branches entering the website, and it's legal to do so....one thing Bill Clinton left us before his term ended (with a bang at that, no pun intended). Anyway, even Microsoft has said stuff such as piracy actually improved their sales in the long run, and most people that read manga will buy it when they get the money to, which is why I think several companies tend to turn a blind eye to it, even VAs that do english dubs watch fansubs, so they obviously know it's out there. I think they see scanlations and similar things as free advertisement, as most people will do the right thing when the can afford it (it feels so much better to read an actual manga and have the DVDs for anime).
I think I got derailed from this track, so I'll just leave it at that.

Wow....it's hard to believe people doesn't know what the meaning of "Justice is blind" mean.....
When people say Justice is Blind, they don't mean justice is inefficient or inadequate. They mean Justice is indiscriminate. Whether you killed a jerk or you killed an innocent man, you will serve your time.

......that does not relate to the topic we are discussing......The "Company" doesn't care whether it's a licensed manga hosting site with nice people or not. All they care about is profit and law.

....no it doesn't. It proves that no matter what manga site it is. They will suspend it according to law and profit. Justice is blind. Under law, people who rat out other groups are not punished because they haven't done anything wrong according to the law.
