Hikaru no go has in incredible stupid plot >:-( >:-( >:-(
It's likely to be the smartest plot of a shonen ever !
If it's stupid how do you call Bleach , Naruto , etc.... HNG is a very well written manga , which has no loopholes whatsoever , with a clear goal and a strong and constructive message .
This is exactly the kind of shonen that the kids should read .
How can you call that stupid ?
If you mean that the background is unusual OK But it's a totally different thing .
And what about this convince the readers they make sense ? the world is go is way more realistic than the world of shinigami .... the issues raised by HNG are true problem for some people on the contrary to Naruto or Satan 666 . Bleach has so many loopholes (the nature of soul society which is a company on the beginning , then becomes a heaven when they introduce the idea of a hell , and right now ...well I don't know anymore . Same thing goes for the status of Ryuka . That's what happens when you have no idea what you're writing about like the mangaka of Bleach ) you must really have double standard about what does make sense and what doesn't.You should really be more careful with the choice of your words .
Hi, I am MajorMarmot, you probably don't know me, or you would know that I hate Bleach, actually, it is in my list of most hated manga, you can check it here:

and you can probably notice that HnG is not there, because I really enjoyed it.
I apologize for saying that HnG has a stupid plot, sometimes I forget than in Asia, Go players are really treated as idols and superstars, and with a good reason, what can a person do that is more important than being very very good in a board game?
But in the end, what people think of these noble heroes (go players) is of no importance, because as we saw in HnG, board games have cosmic repercussion.
The best example is how the gods allowed a soul to be back in this world, disturbing the cosmic order, giving this ancient Go player a second chance to develop a "divine" move in this board game.
It is clear to me that the gods are as involved in Go as humans, and I feel ashamed of myself that I ever dared to call this sacred ritual stupid material for a manga plot.
Anyway........if you want a really good manga about asian board games, with a good and realistic plot, you should try: 3 Gatsu no Lion

I don't get it.. Isn't the point of this topic is to come up with your own idea?..
Yes, which is why I was wondering what the names would be. Not existing names because they don't, but what would the names be? Hard question I'd say.

5 bishies that live in Tokyo want to be idols, they go to a talent agency, but get rejected because they still have a trace of manliness in them.
When they go to a mysterious beauty salon to get their nails done, they discover the ancient "Magic book of bishie" that transform them in Supa Bishies!!
Now every person that looks at them (men or women), falls madly in love. The urges to posses the bishies is so big, that only a peace of their flesh can suppress the craving for a few seconds.
Will the Supa Bishies fulfill their dreams of becoming Idols? Will they survive the bishie slather?

Sounds like it could be an amusing 1 shot. I can see the people killing eachother for the bishies, and then killing the bishies so they can take pieces of their skin and bones and the like. >:}

considering the return of sai I think it's for me another proof of the talent of ohba as writer . She never tries to explain to us how does it work . You can guess that Sai was allowed to return for the sake of the divine move and especially bequeathing his legacy to Hikaru through this famous match against toya kouya and this sudden insight of Hikaru. It makes sense considering that it fits with the message : "link the past with the future" . All the go player are walking a endless road and they're just here to train the next generation , to make them better . But it's just a guess .
She doesn't try to explain nor does Oscar Wilde with the picture of Dorian Gray . You can "guess" that when Dorian Gray asked to god to give eternal youth and to make to picture grow old instead of him his vow was received. And that when he tried to breached the pact he was punished . But it's a guess again .And as HnG you don't know why his wish was granded and by who . God ,the Gods , the Devil , a powerful spirit ? And when you ponder about it you can notice that basically every and each really important work using successfully fantastic element don't try to explain them. Magic is Magic : when you try to explain the trick in the best case you kill the magic in the worse you think it really sucks and eventually you hate what you previously worshiped (Highlander II is the epitome of this).
Good authors sets a framework and doesn't try to cheat with it , doesn't try to enlarge it and definetely doesn't try to explain it . Fantastic is about upshot , not reasons.
It could be summarized by "what if ?"
Sai is tremendously well used . A lot of things wouldn't be able without him , especially those triangular relationships the manga is full with .Everything MAKES SENSE provided you don't try to argue with the postulate (a fujiwara era go player is able to play through a nowadays young kid) . When you're dealing with fantastic you must accept the postulate on the very beginning and after that never questionning it it's the secund golden rule . Provided you accept those 2 rules it's one of the best written manga ever and it makes sense. And as in Picture of Dorian Gray you can see that the fantastic is used only twice : issue (return of a spirit/eternal youth) settlement (death/death) .The rest of the work is all about consequence. A principle of economy is an another feature of good written work . Would you call What women want a fantastic tale ? The tiny fantastic element is just here for providing us a huge playground . As it's litterature there's no special need for "realism" (since by its very nature it's already fiction) as long as the author don't try to feed us with non sense .
But I'll still take a look to the manga you mention.

Thanks, it seems that my second attempt was better than the first one.
Dragon@ I was imagining the bishies cutting their own flesh off and throwing it to the crowd so they could have some time to scape. 😃
ghinzdra@ I took away HnG from the topic, I hope you're happy. And I expect an example of a really stupid manga from your point of view, but not a real manga, you have to make it up.

It really is amazingly stupid. However, I'm sure even it could get a lot of readers if you added yaoi between a few of the bishies,

Whats the fun of that? o.0 I have no interest in people cutting themselves up. Its much more fun if other people cut them up. >:} Plus, people are a lot more delicate with their own bodies then with others, so people cutting the Bishies up would bring a lot more blood and screams. =DDD

Yeah I feel great now 😀
but I don't understand what you're expecting from me : a really stupid manga according to me but not a real manga 😕 😕
do you mean a general type of plot ? like harem or hack'n slash ?
or do you mean a more pertecular plot that I would write off ?
otherwise if you want real manga that I find so stupid that I want to smash my head against the wall each time I read them I can give you a LOT of them.....
Bleach , Ai Kora which is a dull copy of Love Hina , Island (which is not a manga and begins well but quickly tries to deliver great messages and fail miserably...) ; DemonKing (which is a manhwa too but ) , well I forgot most of them... Since basically they are crappy it's just when I'm constantly reminded of their existence by their fan that I remember how crappy they were.
But to cut through the core : basically every manga with a chosen one who will with his bare hand (and no f.... original idea) overcome the greatest evil . And there are really too much of those .
You must have noticed that I quoted a few manhwa .But I could do the same with manfra( french manga) and to a much larger extent : same reasons here. As they are just copying and they have no ideas what they're talking about it's always the same s..... Manhwa began to become good when they started thinking on their own (Priest is really great) .
So here's a few shogun manfra plot : Breath effect a rich , sexy ,gross and blonde girl is sent to a school for the sake of reeducation . You just have to read the taglines to fear the worse : 99% of thong 1% of brain 100% blonde . It's just stupid , lame and gross .
Love I.N.C is about a business school who fosters on love market . Usual shonen-harem thing .
BBProject is about gaijins and japanese fighting in a tournament . If the japanese extremist win then all the gaijin will be expelled of japan . Another classical shonen.
It's endless.
