alright, is ouran high school host club any good? i know a lot of girls like it, but will i, being a male? then, which is better, the anime or manga?

i liked it, it's pretty funny and a good read at the beginning
but it's sorta more shoujo-ish and romance based in the later parts

Agree'd (save Anatolia Story, Ouran, and a few select Josei) it gets too... well, I could say the same with all the crappy shounen.

Manga owns. It's like asking whether you like a boook or a movie that is based off the book. Even though the anime is funnier at times, and has a better chance of portraying the comedy, the manga is great because it shows every little detail that you just can't miss 😛

hmm i don't know if guys will like it. Depends if you usually like other kinds of shoujo manga, but I feel like Ouran is more of a slice-of-life story, with little mini plots as each chapter progresses. the good thing is that each of these chapters and mini-plots has a main point behind it, and its interesting to hear

Anyway, coming from a woman who's read the manga and seen the anime, I think most guys would find the anime better. It makes fun of itself in a great way, and it's really funny. Some of the story-telling techniques used are great too.

The lightbulbs in ep 1, the kite in ep 2 (or is that 3?), etc.

It doesn't get into most of the romance aspects until the second 1/2 of the series, so it's not something you have to put up the whole time, and even then, they're fairly toned down because Haruhi isn't into romance.

Also, you get fantastic voice acting no matter whether you listen to the original Japanese or the English dub. (<3 Caitlin Glass, Vic Mignogna, J. Michael Tatum, Greg Ayres, Todd Haberkorn, Luci Christian, Travis Willingham, Monica Rial, and a bunch more of the Funimation regulars.)

It's probably one of the best done shoujo anime series, in my opinion. (Caitlin and Vic were DROOLING for months to get the rights to do this series.)

If you've ever thought or said "Nice Guys finish last" and really meant it, then you should probably read this LJ post by DivaLion. It's incredibly insightful whether you're male or female.

ouran is a really funny manga... in my opinion... i dont read it for the romance its more for the funny antics...its really humorous...and also a lot of my guy friends actually liked it!!!

I'm a dude, and I've got to admit it's got it's funny moments (Though Seto No Hanayome has waaay better parody jokes that all dudes will get) but like the manga and the anime say near the beginning "it's a reverse harem". And I need to clear something up, any dude who likes Honey-sempai has got some serious sexual issues to work out with their therapist.

hmm....well if u ask me i would say you would find the anime better because its more to the comedy and potrays very very little romance..furthermore the manga currently has taken a turn in for more serious romance and lesser comedy. so if you dont like shoujo romance,nothing to do with being a guy 😀 ,refrain from reading the manga.
