Sport/Food = okay

Just be sure to use all of the animal. That's the least you can do after ending its life.

One more thing, responsible hunting is key to preserving natural balance.

Amen to that! If we didn't have controlled hunting, then animals would end up overpopulating and starving. Isn't that even more cruel than killing a deer or two around Thanksgiving?
While I don't think I could ever kill an animal myself, I see nothing wrong with putting down old pets (and by old, I mean, like, a 17-year-old cat who can't even climb the stairs anymore, not, "oh, I've had this puppy and now it's a dog so I don't want it). And I certainly don't see anything wrong with killing animals for food, as long as as much of the animal as possible is used.

I say kill em if they benefit humans. As in animal testing or for consumption.

Of course it's wrong to kill things for fun, that's psychotic. But for a purpose? Kill whatever animal you like. I mean I don't want to watch, but it's fine.

p.s. Vegans and the like are silly people. It's natural for creatures to kill each other for food and other such purposes. Why should it be immoral for us? I enjoy meat, and it's an important part of a well balanced diet.

Voted 'Other' because its okay to kill an animal if you really need to, (for food and stuff), as long as you use all of it.

I think its dead wrong for just sport, though.

we should all be vegans.

Yes, let's all eat raw leaves and try emulate meat-lovers' food (ie. burgers, sausages) to draw in some converts!~ Then, waste so much effort and money on trying to find alternatives to balance out the lack of protein and what not or else end up like human stick figures.

Fun~

/sarcasm

Sorry, my dear. I just don't see the point.
Furthermore, this topic isn't about just the animals we feed on (I'm assuming), so why bring in the vegan thing?

i put other because i find it generally fine to kill any animal for food, sport, or whatever. It's to what extent we do it that is the problem. For every animal that should be killed, there will always be reasons why we possibly shouldn't, and vice versa, but ultimately it is the population that everyone needs to look at. Look at seal clubbing. Despite seasonal seal clubbing to control a population, there are still huge influxes in the seal population causing some seasons to increase the limit. It's hunting for sport, it's sometimes used for food, but the ultimate reason is sustainability. For the cold north in particular, there are very few predators and because of that the population tends to go out of control. Fish is a major industry for humans, but it is also essential for animals, and because of that the seal population needs to be controlled in order to protect not only the fishing industry, but also the stability of the cold north.

All animals killed should be used in some way, and they are. Whether it is tools, food, or simply fertilizer, animals will always have a purpose in nature, and because of that, killing is very rarely ever wrong. It is only wrong when an entire species is forced into extinction by unnatural means (unnatural as in non predatory or human reasons).

dogs. They would make good tools for hunting, and keeping unwanted people/things at a distance. I wouldn't want any animal killed but if shit went down and the world fell into chaos, I'd want a dog watching my back. Either that or a super smart monkey or ape.

Humans have to 'humanize' other creatures in order to make their lives valuable in their eyes.

Basically, we claim dogs and cats 'love' us, but use the excuse that a bee or an ant is incapable of emotions.

I treat animals the same as I would humans:

If it's intruding in my house and causing harm to me, or potentially causing harm (ie. ant infestations / hobo spider infestations) then survival of the fittest comes into play. I would kill a human if they broke into my house and were in a position of threat to myself or loved ones.

I do not seek out and maliciously kill any kind of animal, nor would I do the same with a human. There is no purpose to doing so.

If an animal or a human was lying dead in front of me, and I needed food, I would eat it. Why waste something that's already a part of 'the circle of life' as mufasa (sp) put it.

If I was going to die, and I needed to kill another creature to survive, I would do it. This, however, is limited to non-humans. I decided a long time ago that I would sacrifice myself to save another human if the option was presented. Assuming that person wasn't someone that disgusted me. Other than this, as far as I'm concerned there is no difference between animals and humans. We all have our own agendas, and humans, in my experience, tend to be less caring than animal counterparts.

I believe... its not right to kill animals unless its for food.

This. Or if you're protecting yourself from one.

I don't think there is wrong or a right to kill an animal. That's just the cycle of life.
Why are humans being secluded for eating meat? Why not lions or bears or even cats and dogs? Why humans?

I understand we shouldn't over do it but people have their own life style. Let them eat whatever they want. Why should it matter to you what someone else does.

Before I read the whole thing I thought you were going to say it was okay to eat humans in case of an emergency. honest to God. Before I got halfway through your post, I thought that is where it was leading to.

p.s. Whatever anyone does, do not eat anybody else in the Canadian wilderness.

Wait, what?...
What kind of thread is that?...

It's wrong to kill any animal, especially domestic/wild ones~
Though since most of us need meat, let's just stick to the stuff we eat and not hunt for fun.

And no, dogs are not an essential part of anyone's diet...
So stay away>_>
Monkeys/dolphins also...

runs away from thread

I love meat, but I still think it's wrong to kill animals...
Other animals kill them as well, only they eat what they kill.

I'm pretty sure all animals fall under the category "domesticated" or "wild"...
