Hi! I'm adding a little note here. This poll also works with actual marriage proposals. Usually, in a normal male and female relationship, the male is expected to propose first. I'm not judging anyone who believes in this view. But it's something that can turn a good relationship into a terrible one. Seriously, japanese "romance" might just be the worst written in the world. It's incredibly immature, even by teen-standards, and is slower than a daytime-soap. Yes, some of it is due to Japan's... problems with sexuality and love in general, but it's worse than that - it's like 99% of all mangakas are complete hikikomoris who have never had even the most casual of relationships with the other gender.

The only ones I've read that are even remotely alright are those that are borderline-hentai.
