They are not stronger than him. There are certain circumstances that cause his deaths that are out of his control. And the fact that he constantly gets stronger is a testament to his strength.

the author makes him die alot so he wouldnt win the battle all the time like in most manga where the main characters always own

that doesn't make it less funny. i don't see how a physical fighting character could be stronger than an immortal overlord type that could warp them out of existence with a thought(haruhi, overseer) no matter how fast they get. it doesn't hurt that dbz has become the stereotype of anime in the states(tho slowly fading to pokemon and naruto) which doesn't help it's credability

I change my vote. The mangaka is the most powerful manga character, the literally have in their hands the destiny of all other manga characters, and can make them stronger or vanish them forever.
And before someone says that mangaka are not manga characters. Some mangaka do cameos in their manga, so they are technically manga characters

Lord of Nightmares is the supreme being of the Slayers universe. (oh and Dragon Slave isn't based from the Lord of Nightmares, it's that other one that they fight at the beginning). So I think the Lord of Nightmares is kinda cheating.
