it started off peacefully with Mark's family protesting i assume because law enforcement shot and killed Mark, but it started to get really violent once a rumor got out that "allegedly" police officers had beaten up a teenage girl.

They're basically out of control. They're doing it because they can, and because they don't care about the consequences.

Croydon's been destroyed, Ealing, Hackney, Enfield and even outside of London in Birmingham, Leeds, Bristol, Nottingham...
They'll probably continue today as well seeing as they have the power and there's not enough Police to be there to stop them.
It's fucking nuts, and scary too. These mobs are attacking everything and everyone.

Whoa, I knew nothing of this as I've been locked up in my room for exams [so I don't know if it's been shown in Australia] but that's pretty crazy.

Quote from Toto

Seems similar to the LA riots in the early 90's.

It sounds similar in some respects, but those didn't drag on for three days. Fools burned down half of Inglewood and K-town but it was over after a day or so.

The riots happening now have nothing to do with the protest. It's called 'oppurtunistic violence'. Whenever there is a peaceful protest chavs (the scum of the earth in the UK) start rioting looting attacking the innocent people, buildings, police etc. Same thing happened when students were peacefully protesting against university fees rising.

Well, it seems there aren't any mortalities in this riot... just wanton destruction and a few injuries.

So, not all bad.

Yup, that's basically it.
Kinda sad cos I recognize a lot of the places, and have some acquaintances in a couple of them. Actually lived quite close to one of the "danger zones" in the northwest (where 3 people were arrested for attempted murder today, btw) some years ago.

Chavs and mini chavs. Nothing but a bunch of useless uneducated masses. As someone had mentioned in this thread, it's an opportunistic violence. Some articles call it a 'working class revolution'. I'd say..that's pure sh*t.

Hundreds years ago, the peasants and serfs worked their a** off while the rich thrives...that's probably why there's uprisings. The modern day 'stereotypical' working class (not all of them) are just living off social benefits, ales and impressively, very 'productive' at such a young age..all these people do is disrupting peace. Taunting hard working citizens, retirees and students living in their area.

"We ain't got no jobs, no money. We heard that other people were getting things for free, so why not us?" asked E.Nan

That's right, idiot. >:-(

lol it's already too late. If you wanted it before it was too late, this should have stopped on Saturday or Sunday ideally.

As far as I know, there's a lot of underclass scums around the Durham county, I wouldnt be happy if it spreads to Newcastle. My friends and family are there.
