no, thats part of the problem, her old boyfriend is an awesome guy, seriously, he's impossible to piss of and really nice in general, i hang out with him some times.

the thing is, if he thinks she left him because of me, and i reject her, he will probably see it as if i just broke the two of them up...

Most people who are impossible to piss off are absurdly rational. If he's jumping to conclusions like that, most likely he really is a jerk and you didn't know about it.

And don't make an ass of yourself by just randomly telling her that you don't want to date her. If she's constantly hanging off of you, tell her you're not dating, so that sort of thing makes you a little uncomfortable, or if she keeps dragging you along places, you could just tell her that you need some time to yourself.
