If you ever have son/daughter, will you introduce them to manga? And at what age?

I'm just curious.would you do it? What kind of manga would you show him?
I'd let them find out and explore it on their own, like what I did.

You are like the dense main character in a shoujo manga.

Well, if I ever have children, I'm sure they'd be avid readers just like me. I used to stay up late staring at picture books even before I could read...lol. So I think I would definitely introduce manga to my kids, and at a pretty young age. I wonder what type of manga would be good for kids...I would have to do research? 0.0 would be an overprotective parent
What types of manga do people think are good for kids?

Definitely. I just wouldn't introduce them to Naruto and then let them jump straight to Elfen Lied as their second manga. I thought it was about Elves! Eight is really too young for such things... But I would Definitely let them read manga otherwise as they wish - although anything really violent I would try to shelter them from (not really really heavily, but you know, if I see them reading it tell them to get off of it) until they were at least 12.

She introduced herself to it on her own. Reads Full Metal Jacket when she's taking a break from Pride and Prejudice (which she is reading for pleasure, not as an assignment).

I'd do the same and I would show them anime from my childhood like dragonball Z and pokemon

Totally agree. I wouldn't force them to stop reading manga if they discover it and like it as teenagers, but best steer them away from the manga section of the bookstore at an impressionable/young age...Some animated movies can be ok. No video games. No TV. Going to send my kids to soccer and tennis and take them out to concerts and art exhibitions and take up so much of their time with productive activities they'll be too tired for other stuff. Also let them build foundation when they're young so they can make better decisions when they're older. I plan to be a tiger mom one day lol.

I hear you say "Why?" Always "Why?" You see things; and you say "Why?" But I dream things that never were; and I say "Why not?"
I won't force anything on anyone.

Depends on whether I have kids in the first place. It will most likely come down to age vs. material. Perhaps 'manga' will become synonymous with 'oh no, another mom thing'.
Though I'm also seriouly considering the 'no. Never' plan... 🤢

I think about it often. I'm at out 600 volumes now and I can't even fathom how big my collection will be after I've had kids. (It's an addiction I won't quit)
I don't think I will introduce them to my kids, but they will definitely be hanging around and if they get curious and ask to read I wouldn't say no. But obviously I would let them read age appropriate stuff... though since I only read shoujo a majority of my stuff is just rated Teen.
It's just that anime and manga are a part of my life so obviously it would be exposed to my kids, not even on purpose.

ur kidding right?
MANGA WILL BE THEIR BEDTIME STORY xD
but i wouldn't force it on them. i'd pick appropriate mangas and if they decide they want to continue reading manga when they can read then i'll let them but i'll monitor what they read. no way i'm having my children reading some yaoi, don't want them to become perverts so early on. like me xD

I'd introduce my child and if he/she likes it, then by all means I'd support that. I'd love it if my child became just as much a fan as me, but if not, oh well. I don't see why he/she wouldn't like manga though, considering how many different genres there are. ^^
Hell yes I will. But I shall be sure to be a good parent and only give them age-appropriate material. Which I'll probably have to buy, judging from the content of my manga collection 🤣
I'm curious though, why are so many people saying they wouldn't force it on them? Nobody said anything about forcing it on them, just introducing them to it.
