Blade of the Immortal to End After 19 Years
After 19 years, Hiroaki Samura will end his historical manga Blade of the Immortal (Mugen no Jūnin) in the February 2013 issue of Kodansha's Monthly Afternoon magazine on December 25. The manga launched in the same magazine in December of 1993, and its first 29 volumes have 5 million copies in circulation. The magazine's November issue published the 216th chapter on Tuesday and revealed that the manga will end in the 219th.
Dark Horse Comics published the 25th volume of the manga in North America in August. The manga inspired a television anime in 2008, and Media Blasters released it in English.

the last couple of volumes[5-10]
have been total shit
nothing but forced and silly staged massacres
it felt like there was some form of story in the begining but after Habaki showed up its basically been a splatter film
its not built up so that i care about Habaki or Anotsu
i just dont care if they die,how they die or how their soldiers die
but when i think about the mangakas other works[all awful garbage] its really impressive that this one managed to be good for as long as it did

well I'm not gonna start an argument
but even the most beautifully intricate storytelling and when you finish and forget the story what result do you gain by that ? nothing most of the time
but there are few life changing stories and experiences
and I'm not exaggerating that Samura's works have changed my taste in manga and that subtitle philosophy made me learn new things
oh maybe its depends on the individuals and their POV

Does the story pick up after 22-25 volume'ish? I stopped reading about there. Thinking about resuming since it is ending.

Well, all good things must end. At least we know it's going to end, unlike Bersrk. That series will likely continue until the mangaka dies and no one will get closure.

Thank $deity. It's had a good run, the story's in a place where ending it feels like the obvious step, and I can't wait for everyone to die. The last bit might be just wishful thinking on my part, though.

I am sad.
I enjoyed BotI... especially at the beginning.
Only really really like Anotsu and Makie and Magatsu, pretty much Itto-Ryu (lol) so that's why I kept reading. I don't even care that much about Manji and Rin. That might just be me but so what.
This should be labeled tragedy. Even if the series is ending he didn't need to kill off all of my favorite characters (well almost all of them). T_T Still... dunno what you ppl are talking about. BoTI has strong writing. The writing is nearly as good as the art and that's saying something.
