When I want someone to die it's mainly so they're out of the way and the characters can get on with their lives. I admit that I often can't see any way out of it except for them to die, but if the mangaka comes up with something better, I'm all for it. Usually. Mmmm...I admit, I shed no tears when Spandam from One Piece died. He was just....scum. A maggot.
