I think that reading and enjoying manga is a healthy and harmful thing to do. It's just a hobbie.

But, when you add the hobbies of watching other manga related media, collecting manga related products, and disguising and acting as manga characters, it stops being a hobbie and becomes a way of life.

I don't wanna be sucked up by the fandom, I enjoy reading manga, but that's all. I prefer doing other things that give certain balance to my life; such as sports, arts and trying to archive professional success.

I have had friends that had brilliant futures, but......well, if you saw "Otaku no video" the first part (the one that made sense), you know what I mean. That kind of thing really happens.

I'm pretty similar to you. However, I will occasionally watch an anime (though I only watch ones that aren't based off of a manga).
