I used to think that the obvious answer was to make the whole manga in full color. But I wasn't thinking of the manga-artists...who would be burdened with all of the extra work. Creating manga is already very time-consuming. I always read horror stories (from bonus/side panels and such) about them suffering from all sorts of illnesses and fatigue, etc. and troubles keeping up with deadlines. Sometimes, it sounds like they lead no lives other than creating manga. Of course, I am not saying that they do not enjoy the work that they do (otherwise, they would have quit) but creating manga in full color would be unreasonable.

Full color -- I wouldn't mind waiting longer or paying more for volumes if the end result is masterfully done.

It's always nice to see color chapters when the artist can put his/her full effort into creating the chapter, though I voted for occasional specials because full-color chapters take much longer to release, and are not always a good idea for regularly serialized manga.

Basically, it's a trade-off between the detail of the art, and the time in between each release. The quality of the manga itself depends on the author. I don't mind seeing color on special occasions but if that becomes too stressful for the mangaka I fully understand. I would much rather see an improvement in narrative than watch a series go the way of recent Bleach chapters..

Substance over style, I say.
