This year's 43rd issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine is announcing on Monday that a television anime adaptation of NisiOisin and Akira Akatsuki's Medaka Box school fighting comedy manga has been green-lit. More information will be provided in future issues of the magazine.

In the story, Medaka Kurokami, the strongest girl in Hanokiwa Academy, leads the school's student council. The student body can submit pleas for help, 24 hours a day and 365 days a year, into the suggestion box that Medaka installed. Together with council members Zenkichi, Akune, Kikaijima, she takes on the challenges in the school that include supernatural powers and near-constant battles.

NisiOisin and Akatsuki launched the manga in Weekly Shonen Jump in 2009, and Shueisha will publish the 12th compiled book volume next month.

I'm pretty disappointed that this got an anime. I liked it at first and currently still reading because I want to know what happens to Zenkichi, but the character development in this manga has been really bad in my opinion and there aren't many likable characters. The author keeps focusing on side characters which makes some of the other characters lose a lot of appeal and then when Zenkichi was introduced again, he became one of those stupid and annoying characters.

Quote from Medaka Box School Comedy TV Anime Made by Gainax
This year's 50th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine is announcing on Monday that the studio Gainax is producing the television anime adaptation of NisiOisin and Akira Akatsuki's Medaka Box school action comedy manga. Shouji Saeki (Mahoromatic: Summer Special, This Ugly Yet Beautiful World, He Is My Master, Mahoromatic: Tadaima Okaeri, Hōkago no Pleiades) is directing and editing the series scripts, and Ikuo Kuwana (Street Fighter Alpha: Generations) is designing the characters.

Weekly Shonen Jump is also announcing that story creator NisiOisin is writing a Medaka Box novel. NisiOisin and Akatsuki launched the original manga in Weekly Shonen Jump in 2009, and Shueisha published the 12th compiled book volume last month.

In the story, Medaka Kurokami, the strongest girl in Hanokiwa Academy, leads the school's student council. The student body can submit pleas for help, 24 hours a day and 365 days a year, into the suggestion box that Medaka installed. Together with council members Zenkichi, Akune, and Kikaijima, Medaka takes on the challenges in the school that range from mundane tasks to supernatural battles.

Gainax?? Perfect fit for such a crazy series!

Thank god it wasn't Madhouse. Jesus, I swear their fighting animation is getting worse by the year.

And to think I loved Black Lagoon so much. So much has changed in 5 years...

this gets an anime, not thrill but manga ending before the anime begins...that's hard to believe for something published in Shonen Jump.
