If they have that much time, scanlate the next chapter of a series and put the spoofs in there as extras. For instance, in a One Piece chapter, have sketches of how the characters would look if they were drawn by different mangaka.

Despite these warnings there are always a few groups that Intentionally do releases like this and then post them as the next chapter. at least have the common decency to name it chapter april fools or something like that.

It's not much of a prank if the person knows not to click on it 😛

Either way, I can understand the mods not wanting to clean out hundreds of fake release.

Ehhh, yeah, me too. And since I live on the other side of the planet, April 1st is almost over for me, so after having to worry over pranks all day in RL, I have to worry over online pranks for a good part of tomorrow, too >.<

I hate spam releases. I've never been fooled by one so far, but it's just impossible to not get your hopes up when you see a 'release' for a manga that hasn't had a chapter out in months...

And despite all warnings to the contrary, Legend of the Sun Knight (manga), Tsumi to Batsu (Ochiai Naoyuki) and possibly also Torikago Gakkyuu (not sure about this one) have already had fake release updated here on MU today. So NOT cool on the part of the scanlators. It's extremely immature and just plain rude!

Odd Squad Scans actually released a real chapter of Legend of the Sun Knight on April 1st. They, however, had the real release tucked away out of most persons notice. But on the last page of their fake release, they listed a website, which linked to the real release. So their release was legit, just not as easily accessed.
