ahhhh so true so true!!!! I really dont understand people that dismiss onepiece as childish. Its probably one of the deepest shounen manga i have ever read (and am still reading). Each arc and each island that luffy adventures through has its own underlying theme that deals with various issues in our world today, and they're definately no childish themes.

MORALS
The reason why people probably think One piece is childish is because they look at the art and quickly make an unfair judgement just based on that. If u've REALLY read One Piece than u noe that its not ALL fun and jokes. There are MANY deep messages and moral dilemnas that Oda addresses throughout the arcs, and he does so in a way that its incorporated in the story without having to FORCE it in. He doesnt SPELL it out like kishi does, and he doesnt need to because his story does that for him.

Seriously......the whole pein and Naruto talk at the end of the PEIN arc was such a DRAGG.....OK WE GET IT!!!..... REVENGE AM BAD!!! I promise Kishi!! me no revenge no more!! Stop TALKING about it already and give some actionnnnn. And well wit bleach(??) errr...................the bankai's are cool~ and the vaizards are back!! YAY!!!!....lol sorry i guess i only read bleach for the action;; but im sure there's some moral themes and deep messages that kubo's hiding under the pretty pictures.......cant think of anything at the top of my head tho.......no wait!! Ulquiorra's death seemed pretty meaningful.....im sure....

PROGRESSING ARCS
For me at least, One piece has always ALWAYS been going uphill with each and every progressing arc. I always think.."damn this is the BEST arc!!!" and then the next one comes and i think "No, THIS is the best one!!!" and so forth and so on. Every arc introduces new unique characters (oda is the KING of varity in characters lol ), a fresh new enviornment (ex. vast desert, above the clouds, horror-based enviornment etc~), and just the plot itself is always refreshing and unpredictable.

Naruto goes up and down for me. The haku arc was really amazing and the chuunin exam arc was my all time favorite~ (and there were others that were REALLY good too~) but then naruto has its slow moments in between. The pein arc was pretty good until it was totally SMASHED at the end.... and now its just meh.......naruto is now a pacifist......he cries alot.......he is the main character......... how can this get better?? And again bleach.....err....... i feel like there were only really 2 important arcs, and they're basically the same so.....but its still entertaining so im not complaining~ bankais are cool and so are the espada releases 😃

CHARACTERS & WORLD & OVERALL IMPRESSION
The world in one piece just seems so....FREE.... luffy and his crew arent held back by any rules; they say "screw you!!" to the government and follow their own justice. Its just them, their ship, and their journey. And the way Oda writes his stuff, he makes u really feel like u've become part of the crew. U witness the straw-hats grow from just luffy to now a 9 member crew and ur there every step of the way. If its their loss, u feel it too. (I seriously cried when merry....u noe... 😢 ) Whether their sad, angry, fighting, joking around, or having a massive party, u really feel their massive happiness or anger or sadness.

but with naruto....its just....why 😕 WHY 😕 I never can relate to naruto's feelings and i probably never will. His massive obsession wit sasuke has never convinced me, and i really dont understand where it came from anyway?? NARUTOO grow some backbone!! BE the MAIN CHARACTERRRR!!! SASUKEE!! GET OVER UR EFFIN SELF!!! UR NOT THE MOST TRAGIC CHARACTER YOU #(FH(#&!!!! SAKURA!!! FOR SOME ReASON UNKNOWN~ i dont like you!!;;;; I feel frusterated when reading these recent chapters... naruto was better when he was an annoying brat..... and of course bleach.... you noe~~~

Every straw hat member had a tragic past, but the way they learn how to MOVEEE ON (for christ-sakes) and fight towards their grand life-long goals make them much more likable~ u just wanna root for them~ ( i couldnt care less if naruto and sasuke EVER become the best of buddies again <-were they even 😕 )

All in all~ all three are REALLY good shounens. There are reasons why they're all popular; but if u read ALL three of them PRESENTLY (WITHOUT having dropped one piece....) u'll noe that there's something special about OP that separates it from the other two. If i didnt have One piece to compare the other two with, i'd definately think i would have enjoyed naruto and bleach 1000 times more. One piece just brings out the flaws in the other two... because its THAT good.

Hermit-chan & wldms11 i have fixed my post it should be easier to read it now lol.

and i like reading you guys post too.
now when im debating about one piece being better than many other shonens (mostly bleach and naruto) i can bring up what you guys said.

"And the way Oda writes his stuff, he makes u really feel like u've become part of the crew. U witness the straw-hats grow from just luffy to now a 9 member crew and ur there every step of the way. If its their loss, u feel it too. (I seriously cried when merry....u noe... cry ) Whether their sad, angry, fighting, joking around, or having a massive party, u really feel their massive happiness or anger or sadness."

This is how you know he is a good authour because most of the readers feel this way HAHA. i cried to when the merry died. AND ITS A FREAKING BOAT! i didnt feel this way towards any of the naruto characters that died.

O yea kishimoto also reads one piece and cried said he cried for the merry go.

I totally agree with Artieboy, Hermit-chan, and Aristocrat

I use to be a big fan of Naruto (I started reading One Piece very late) and for me One Piece is miles ahead of Naruto and Bleach. I find a very monotonous feel to Naruto and Bleach.

Naruto for me personally is way more childish then One Piece people say that Naruto is more darker because of people dying thats a whole lot of bollox (not sure if this word is allowed lol) who says there has to be this huge death for something to be dark or for a character to have conflict.

One Piece for me is like a very liberal kind of story (which is why I like it, it allows for everyone in the story good or bad to choose their own destiny and change it if they choose to) In naruto and bleach to a certain extent - It's naruto is right or the leaf country is right and everyone else is wrong, same with bleach maybe not as bad but still in both of those it's just right and wrong good and evil. If you're evil or wrong you die - that's it. It just doesnt grip me as much as One Piece - the story telling of One Piece is amazing, it keeps you sitting at the edge of your seat wanting more - there's no conforming, it's stayed true to what One Piece started out as. It draws you in - making you feel as though you're apart of that life.

There's an amazing quote by Martin Scorsese in which he says:

"I think movies are the real world in that they are our fears and our dreams. There are a number of films that have those moments in them that take you to another time and place emotionally and you are them, you become those people because you understand their joy or you understand their fear. You learn something about a world, you learn something about its people and maybe you learn something about youself."

for me that's what One Piece is - in One Piece there's something for everyone and something most people can relate to.

-The choice of fulfilling your dream or doing something your parents want you to do.
-Doing anything and everything in your power to save someone to care about.
-The consequences of the actions that you take and whether you live to regret them or not.
-Having a dream sooo big that some times you can't even fathom it.
-Making friends all types good and bad.
-Having to sacrifice something in order to obtain something more important.

I could go on and on - but thats why One Piece is One of the BEST stories (not just manga or anime) best stories around.

Oh and for anyone that says the artwork in One Piece sucks - they can go jump in the toilet haha The artwork in One Piece ROCKS and fits soo well with the story and the individuality (which is what One Piece strives for, you can be whoever you want to be in life - noone can tell you otherwise, for me that rings true in life also. I truly believe that anyone can be whoever they choose to be. (Free will).

Sorry I tend to go off on various tangents - I don't really have structure to my writing lol

Nuff' said, most of my point would be similar with D.God so i won't repeat it and thanx 4 D.God with his xplanation. I just wanna add that in One Piece, anything can happen, after all, it is a fantasy type of manga so my advise is, throw all your common sense out of the window in order to fully enjoy One Piece. So, things like no character dies or how they are able to move freely after a serious injury pfft... come on man, we are not on earth anymore we are in One Piece world.

As for Bleach and Naruto, they're are a great read as well, i love the both of them, each have thier own unique trait like swords fighting and ninja arts, however, don't u think that such thing would also exist in One Piece, who knows, if maybe one day along the Grand Line there'll be a ninja village or something, we already have sword figting in Zoro. That just emphasize my main point, in One Piece, anything can happen, so that puts it in front of the other two as my fav. shonen manga . 😀

i agree and it would be awsome if luffy finding a ninja as a nakama and more tings like that

what i like about one piece over naruto and bleach and that i didnt see mentionned is that

not all the villains have to have a super complicated and sad reason to do evil things

for exemple:ha im evil but in fact im just not really evil cause im doing it to take revenge because they made me kill my clan and so on... so my death is super sad andd bla bla bla

in one piece evil is just plain evil end of story no super complicated reason why he does what he does.
and in a strange way those villains become more likable then the ones in other series.

cause in one piece everyone does as they want (xep the marines)

The reason maaaany people like OP this much is simply 'cause Oda feeds the masses what they want. Yes OP is a great shounen. It really, really is. It's about everything you could expect from a shounen. It's like watching a "hollywood-made" movie done good, including all the standard cliches, again, done good (switch "hollywood-made" with shounen and there you go). I guess that's also the reason I got bored of it after the 10th volume or so (though I still read to v40+). Seeing all these arguments pretty much confirms it for me.

If you want to be successful with a shounen; do it like OP.

Something that's really been annoying me for a while is the premature criticism of Naruto. To me it seems like worshipping OP and trashing Naruto is "in" lol. 🤣 It builds itself up over time, piles up without end, and are almost entirely based on shounen presupposed criticism.

A whole lot of criticisms and reviews that deals with OP, Naruto and Bleach presupposes "shounen level" writing. Obviously. Now OP is good and genious; Oda becomes GOda etch because the presupposed criticism pretty much doesn't need any adjustments. Naruto, on the other hand, is inconsistent, bad, boring, etch because it is too much shounen, while not giving you shounen material was what made it bad in the 1st place. It's bad 'cause "it's not suppose to be like this.", or "this is not what I wanted to happen." etch.

Don't get me wrong. I don't say Naruto is THE shit. I'm simply annoyed with all the bashing. Not that I expect it to stop lol 😀 😎

Imho, I like naruto over OP and bleach. Mainly because there aren't 10000 characters which keep appearing and I don't really like the character designs in OP which I find very weird lol. Ofc, adding to this there is no subplot between members and hence I dropped it after a while. Sure the sasuke thing is gay but I find the story moves at a very good pace and there is balance between fighting and plot. So in the end its a matter of personal preference and none of them are superior over the other (tho I would say both OP and naruto are better than bleach)

Even though I'm not a huge fan of any of the listed manga, I have to say that, surprisingly, Naruto would have to be my favorite if I had to choose, purely because people die.

I, of course, do not take joy in the death of characters I love.

HOWEVER, if they don't die after receiving mortal wounds and come back to life again and again, their lives are cheapened.

If fights grind on and on and readers know that the protagonist will prevail no matter what, the tension and suspense is gone. (Deaths that happen to characters' family members or deaths that happen to minor characters or pre-storyline deaths don't really count, it seems...) The whole story is corroded by the lack of tension and ensuing lack of interest. If good always wins or at least always survives, what is there to wonder about?

What is there to keep readers up, clamoring for the next chapter?

In a story where everyone lives, an important element is lost, I think.

Thus, despite some flaws, my vote would probably go to Naruto.

I think OnePiece is the best! the genre of comedy action is still there unlike naruto it became action drama! i hope you understand and im not a fan of bleach because its like Dragonball (Goku loses to a fight then remach he will win) just like ichigo in bleach

The important thing is the journey, not the ending.
In many stories, the good guy always win. Same goes with your Naruto - in every fight he's in, as if you don't expect him to do some insane move that would earn him his victory? You do! We all do! We all know he's gonna become hokage one day! Is the suspense in that gone? NO! because the journey is still going on!
Furthermore, there has yet to be an occasion where the good have "lost" in Naruto.
The destruction of the village doesn't really count since everyone (that matters) lived anyways.

What is there to keep readers up, clamoring for the next chapter?

There IS suspense in One Piece - lots of it. More suspense than what you get in Naruto.
I've had more "OMG What's gonna happen next?!" moments reading One Piece than I've had reading Naruto.
The fights in Naruto are so..."Meh"
It's always the same. Jumping around, dodging blows...until someone does a big move...then the other guy pulls a bigger move and wins. Predictable.

What you get in One Piece is a constant string "David and Goliath" battles. The enemies are always stronger. Insanely stronger, in fact - and it's always about teamwork.

How many fights in Naruto were there where teamwork was essential?
Not many.
You almost always get "group-members" as bystanders to watch "the main fight".
For example, in the current chapter of Naruto, Karin and Madara are watching Saucegay and Captain Million eyes.
Given the fact that Karin is only a worthless fangirl/healer, her absence in the fight is...probably beneficial, but why isn't Madara helping? He's stronger than Saucegay...and most likely stronger than Captain Million eyes, but he just acts as a bystander?
LAME!

In One Piece, every crew mate has their own enemy to fight with and they all take about the same amount of time to defeat them. Each fight has its own uniqueness and is almost always unpredictable (hint: suspense).

You either didn't read properly, skipped a bunch of chapters or can't distinguish those sub plots...because there's a lot of 'em.
