Well, like with Hinata, Pain wasn't shown directly killing him, as soon as Kakashi used up all of his chakra he just dropped, and Pain left him.

Now, I know he said himself that he could die if he uses up all of his chakra but this is a shounen... When's the last time someone who fought with all his strength died in a shounen?

^ THIS. Someone dying from going all-out in a fight is so anti-shonen I don't even know where to begin. It's not even a fight in shonen manga unless you have someone on the sidelines gasping about how the main character is going all-out, has surpassed his limits and reached a new level, OMG, etc. There is somehow always chakra in reserve.

I'm not especially a Kakashi fan, but still, it's the principle of the thing: he was a main character. Killing him off in that particular way--if in fact he is dead, which it seems like at the moment since he was included on that list of fallen comrades--was a seriously, seriously lame way to go about it. I mean, Chouji thought his dad was dead, but he somehow got magically revived. They can do that for useless Hinata and Chouji's dad (who we'd seen like maybe once before that fight), but not Kakashi?

Also, totally agree with loosecannon504--if Kishimoto planned for Naruto to figure it all out in the end, then all of that stuff with Ino's dad could've been done away with since it's not going to play any part in the plot. Naruto pretty much explained what the black rods were for and why he was going to stab himself with them, so in the end, you didn't need Ino & co. for any explainatory purposes either.

Sometimes I feel like mangakas just can't win. People complain that they follow too many cliches but when it looks like one is about to be broken, people still complain. I for one would love it if a character actually would die when they ZOMGHAXXOR HE WENT PAST THE LIMITS OF POSSIBILITY!!!!11!1!! FOR THE 10TH TIME!!!!11!!!! I actually only started reading Naruto again when I heard that guys were dying left and right.

Course, this is Naruto so I'm not hoping for much.

🤣

I think you just contradicted yourself with that last statement.

I understand how you feel though. Rabid fans personally attacking mangaka for having their favorite character die or for having some event happen, and even if it's done well, they still get bashed for it. But the thing is that most of the time writers put themselves in a "Damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation without realizing it until the fans react.

One example would be in a Simpsons episode, where Lisa was offered $12 million dollars by Mr. Burns after he sold the recycling plant he and Lisa were running. Now, if Lisa accepts the $12 million, then she'd be going against all her beliefs about saving nature and would be cast as a hypocrite by the fans. If she didn't take the money, then that would be leaving Mr. Burns even more money to continue the evil deeds that she fights so hard against. Not to mention that if she does take the money, she could donated the money to places that help try to save the planet.

What I'm trying to say is that sometimes you shouldn't blame the fans for complaining, sometimes you should blame the mangaka for writing themselves into a corner like that.

Just because someone's head was chopped off doesn't mean they're dead. That's just silly.

Sorry sir. 😳 I'll make sure not to voice my opinion about something the mangaka does ever again. 😃

Until the next chapter. :D
