Question this time is:
What is your optimal manga length?

Personally, for the series I like, I prefer them to last a while, just so that I can love it while it lasts~ But of course I would like it to end! So I'd choose around 20 volumes to be a good number

Stats:
Question: What is your optimal manga length?
Choices:
Oneshots (Read more stories in less time) - votes: 148 (1.8%)
1-5 volumes (Fairly quick reads) - votes: 644 (7.8%)
6-10 volumes (Right in the middle is just right) - votes: 1707 (20.8%)
11-20 volumes (It takes a while to develop characters/plot) - votes: 2836 (34.6%)
21+ volumes (I love it so much that I don't want it to stop!) - votes: 2870 (35%)
There were 8205 total votes.
The poll ended: April 12th 2008

6-10 is good, for me.

Its long enough for a bit of character dev, but its not so long that it gets boring with the same things, one after another.

For me it was pretty much a tie between 21+ and 6-10 but I chose 6-10 instead. I get bored pretty quickly >.<, and many of my favorite mangas are around this length.
6-10 volumes gives just enough time to develop with little place for the story to drag.

until 20 volumes is good, i don't like series dragging too much and becoming repetitive.

Honestly it depends on the series. Usually 6-10 is probably more than enough, and longer just results in a needlessly dragged out plot, but for well-planned series with excellent pacing 11-20 seems to work the best. 21+ often gets excessive, but naturally there are exceptions.

NightSwan also said that she wanted to peg me, once, but I'm not sure whether to take that as a compliment or a threat...

I prefer long series as long as they stay fresh for me and the scanlators release frequently enough to keep me reading since I'm pretty loyal. When Snoopy Cool was gone, I stopped reading Yakitate. Maybe I'll start that series again when I have time. Anyway, 11-20 volumes is a good length, but I would rather have 21+. It'll be a sad day when One Piece ends. 😢 I rarely read things 1-5 volumes because I don't want it to end or I feel like I was cheated out of a something I enjoyed. If it's a sad story that makes me cry a lot though, 3-10 volumes is enough if I feel emotionally spent during and after reading the story (example would be Kagen no Tsuki)

However many it takes to convey a complete story. It could be a one shot or an epic 200 volume(if that even exists) story.

I prefer 21+ volumes if it's something good like Rurouni Kenshin where the plot doesn't repeat like in Bleach.

I voted for 11-20 volumes. It gives the story time to develop and you really get to know how the characters are. On top of that when manga is 11-20 volumes it leave me with just enough so I won't keep wanting a lot more and it doesn't go on too long where I'll get sick of it completely sick of it.

I would have chosen 11-20, but if the filler drawings are disregarded, 6-10 in the end. (Well, there are copy-paste drags of repetitions and some parts of the story take disprportionally greater place without much plausiblity to the plot. I suspect that some manga releases are prolonged with deliberately slow paced chapters or unnecessary grand drawing for reasons unrelated to the plot but to the publishing schedule). Surely, if it is a manga series one enjoys nothing matters and it's never enough.

20 vols max I guess, enough space for character development and conflict. 21+ vols tend to get repetitive and boring, while I usually gets the feeling that "this could be made better" when I'm reading 1-5 vols

There's always exception though, like Rurouni Kenshin, Ryuuroden, Shanao Yoshitsune,Tekken Chinmi and some others 🙂
