your genes

I'm from a European-mixed linage, mainly german and polish. Most of my family is tall, but I'm perfectly average in height. Most of my family are also either ex-convicts, druggies, or alcoholics, or a combination of the above. So, growing up watching the fruitlessness of their lives I became drug-phobic, alcohol-phobic, and a follower of the law. xD A lot of them eat raw meat regularly and don't die, but they are fat and sickly for some reason unbeknownst to them ( I'm vegan, so I don't really have to worry about this for myself, though when I was in elementary school I ate my bacon uncooked out of the package). A lot of peeps in my family have also had myocardial infarctions, but again I think that's do their poor diet. All of this is on my mother's side though.
All I know about my dad is that he has a mullet, looks like captain hook, and his mother is full blood Cherokee native american. I think I got my hair from her, because mine is stringy and greasy, much unlike my bro's natural perm and my mother's fluffy soft hair. So eventually I chopped all my hair off in annoyance. I also gain weight easily, but also build muscle fast and lose it if I try to work out (mesomorph). Females on my mum's side also have a skin disorder on their upper arms and on the bottoms of their cheeks so there are bumps there. My bad eyesight came from either my dad or the computer screen. I also have a slight unibrow (I shave it, so no one really knows it's there). I do like my nose and eyes, and my face shape is pretty good.
Overall, pretty suck genes to work with, but I'm managing them well. Sorry for ranting so much. =/ It's kinda funny how different I am from my family by learning from their bad examples. xD

I suppose so. I got a lot of my father's better genes. For example, I can tan fast, even faster if I get burnt. Which makes my sister mad, since she'll sunbath for hours, and get no where near as dark as I can after just one hour. And I've never had a problem with acne and no freckles.
Though, I got some of my more annoying genes from my mom. Like all the beauty marks. I have orion's belt on my neck. 😐

I think the term for it is recessive genes? I know the other is dominant but not so sure about this one lol.
My genes aren't my best point its more like how I've grown. I had mostly bad aspects of Asian and English genes and annoying habits that my mother has that gives her an impulse to shout out loud. (I'm sure there is a medical term for it)
I only thing I could say I inherited was probably the fact that I'm half grey at the age of 21, low metabolism and other various things which are abit personal and too much information lol. I got the hair colour from my mother (black) but the texture of my hair is that of my father (smooth silky hair). Apart from that I really don't care much for my genes, its all about what you do with them.
Do not feed the trolls

Mine are not top-notch, but about some of the best you can be dealt.
Above-average in both looks and smarts, my immune system is also awesome being only sick one day per year. I have a good physique, and easily outperform others in physical tasks.
Only drawbacks have been flat feet, slightly off posture, and the need for extensive jaw/teeth treatment. Which means high maintenance body.
But the perks have outweighed the benefits and am thoroughly enjoying 'em, though it should be noted I am nurturing these genes and not letting them go to waste. You can't just bank everything on genes! A good body is one you worked to get!

Genes, hmmm, well for most things it's kind of hard to tell what comes from genes & what comes from way of life~
I've got pretty good genes. Overall I'm very healthy, but I do take some credit for that as my diet's pretty good & I don't drink, smoke, etc.
The only thing I really hate is that I'm VERY fair skinned (sunburns...ugh...).
The blonde hair is kind of weird considering both parents & all four grandparents have dark hair, but I don't really dislike it. It's gotten darker as I've gotten older, but now that it's almost as dark as the rest of the family, it's turning white! That's from my dad's side; I'll probably have more white hair than my mom AND both her parents before too long.
My bad eyesight is either environmental or recessive genes as I'm the only one with bad eyes.
Oh, I have my dad's flexibility - my dad & I can both stand with straight legs, bend over forwards, & put our palms flat on the ground. My brother & my mom can't even touch their fingertips to the ground! 🤣

I'm 25 years old and I have very fast metabolism still. I'm 6'1" and I weigh 155 lbs which is a bit slim, despite eating around 2500 calories a day.
I think I'm very healthy. I eat right and exercise pretty much everyday rigorously. I'll occasionally take off a day if I'm feeling tired and I think my body could use a rest.
I have very white skin and do not tan well at all.
I'm often mistaken for a 19-20 year old. The last time I was sick was three years ago, with the flu. I think I look pretty good.
As for smarts, I'm way above average when it comes to logic, reasoning, pattern recognition, and math.
I have very bad social anxiety at times - especially when I have to talk in front of a large group of people. This makes me poor with social graces at times.
I don't drink alcohol anymore, but I did as a teenager. The first time I drank alcohol I was 16 and downed 5 shots of bourbon at my friends house with no problems. Aside from tasting like @#$@ and a burning sensation in my stomach I had no problems thereafter. No hangover. I didn't even act or feel drunk despite being my first time. I'm guessing that's the Irish blood in me. We've got innate alcohol resistance (YARR!).
All of my grandparents are alive except for one, who died of lung cancer. But he was a heavy smoker so I consider his death very premature. One of my great grandparents is still alive. She's 90-something.
One of my grandparents that's still living has diabetes, and hypoglycemia runs in that side of the family, so I guess I'll have to lookout for that later in life.
I have a huge family. I have 12 aunts and uncles, who are now in their 50s. None of them have any signs of heart trouble, and there has no been no premature death so I guess I have that going for me.

That is it! Thanks. I could remember the word started with an r, but not much else.
On topic, I'm also part Italian, so I bruise very easy. I won't even talk about my ever permanent bags; I've slept 13 hours for an entire week and I STILL have bags. Normally I sleep a lot less, though, so my bags are almost as big as my actual eyes.

Most of the positive things you guys attribute to your "good genes" are actually mostly due to your youth, such as hangover recovery and recovery from things in general, good metabolism and flexibility. Some of the bad attributes are largely due to mental convictions, bad habits gleaned from parental figures during childhood.
I hate it when people start talking about genes, because they almost always have such a feeble grasp of it, it always sounds like such a crock.

The flexibility my dad & I have is not due to youth, as he's 74 and I'm 38! 🤣
Some of the other stuff, yeah, youth plays a part but genetics is there too.

I have a pair of good jeans, they're starting to get off-color from washing though.

I inherited poor health, but otherwise nothing negative.
I suspect I inherited my innate sense of sarcasm also.
