"itadakimasu" in your language

After seeing people in mangas or animes saying "itadakimasu" before the meal i asked myself how do the people in other countries say it. In German we say "mahlzeit"(spelled: mal-cajt) or "guten appetit"(guten apetit) and in Poland we say "smacznego"(smatch-nego)
i used "-" to separate the syllable and this way i think it is easier to spell it.
"Buen provecho" in Spanish. When begining to eat / if you see people eating around. Nothing is said when you finish your meal though, except comments about the food or some random talk.

Smakelijk in Dutch. 😀
Only English doesn't have it. o_o

"Gaarrrrr" in mine..... especially if it looks good. My first language is English, BTW, and I don't think we have an equivalent to itadakimasu. We English speakers are ungrateful bastards.
'Cheers' for drinking, but that's universal.

Closest English equivalent, if I had to venture a guess, is "Time to dig in!"
I am the God of Freedom. I am not revered, I have no shrines; and you have never before heard of me nor will you ever hear of me again.

here in Slovenia we say "Dober tek"
At the end of the meal we mostly compliment the food if it was good 🙂

We say "Selamat Makan", but the shortened version "Makan" is more common here in Indonesia

It's not really a custom here to do so but you can say "Bon appétit".
and at the end of the meal you can thank the one who prepared it. In my case it's my mom.

In arabic you say "bismillah" and at the end you say "alhamdullilah." I'm pretty sure only Muslims say it, though.
