As far as I know, yaki means grilled so yakitori is grilled chicken, takoyaki grilled octopus etc...

It makes sense that it means grilled now that I think about it. Okonomiyaki is the japanese alternative to pizza and i'm pretty sure it's grilled. Tried Pocky before I got into anime/manga, because my brother gave me some for Christmas one year. 😀

Tried making okonomiyaki a few times, but my kids don't like it much, so I don't make it often.

We eat a lot more rice than we used to, and leftover rice with furikake makes a great lunch the next day.

Daifuku (sweet mochi with chestnut or sweet bean filling)!!! Way cheaper to make than to buy, and soooo yummy.

Lately, I've been eating a lot of "S&B Golden Curry". I swear, it's one of the best things I've ever tasted, absolutely delicious.

I'm sure there are more, but I can't think of them right now.

Ramen and Udon (that I made myself (not the noodles of course)) are the only things at the moment, but I have been dying to try sushi ever since I read GTO. Too bad the only places that serve it are expensive where I live, and I don't have a job 😢 .

I had Pocky when i was a kid, way before i discovered the wonderful wonderful world of anime. So, probably Taiyaki/Bungeoppang(first saw it in Azumanga Daioh). The one i eat has ice cream filling though and a bit of red bean paste.

i wanna try curry and ramen, 'cause i've heard of this curry dish alot of time in different manga series already....it seems like some kind of soup or stew with rice and a combo of other kinds of veggies and stuff....sounds and look so delicious 😀 ...well, i don't really see the different between ramen and noodle, so i would like to try ramen to see what it's like......i love cup/instant noodle itself already (beef flavor), so ramen can't be too bad, eh 😛

Well yes ramen is a type of noodle, there's different kinds. They taste different, fresh noodle and your typical instant stuff is different.

Soba was interesting. The taste was simple but it's great in hot weather.

I have definitely tried more sushi since reading manga and watching anime. There was a time when I wouldn't touch the stuff. I still can't eat tons of it. A cheap one - a roll with kampyo in it - is actually very good! I think its supposed to be dried gourd or pumpkin?

I have also started eating rice much more and bought a rice cooker - which is heaven-sent, since I tend to burn rice - and short grain rice that is vinegared with avocado chunks is a really good combo. I don't think that's actually a Japanese dish, but its tasty.

I am curious about the noodle bread too!
