Because it's really, really awesome?

No seriously. I think the reason it's winning here is because it encompasses a larger range of genres than the other titles. Sure, all of these contain multiple elements and are complex (they have to be to make it this far), but GTO combines them more expertly and in doing so appeals to a larger audience. I think a lot of the people that voted for GTO may typically like other demographics more- GTO is just a really great exception.

if this was a character poll i will agree with GTO for Onizuka, but as a manga... i don't think that is better than berserk or nodame [haven't read the other] or better than the others shounen in the final.

You have your taste , I have mine etc..I have heard and read this speech so often and yet in the same time there are numerous awards , tops 100 of all time , critics etc ... whose job is only to rate artistic works . On top of that the very people that deliver this kind of speech are the first to rush on those tops and have very bitter comments if they don't give them reason .
So let's stop this non sense 2 minutes pretty please ! we're not on a TV stage . Clearly there are some golden principles universally valorized which are a blatant denial to this : coherence, originality , adequation style-subject ,etc...
Therefore there are really a bracket of good works selected according to those rules and carefully selected by the ebb and webb of the time : only the real good work last . And inside this bracket , large enough not to give reasons to feel oppressed, yes you can allege having "different taste" . Otherwise it's just demogagy.
Clearly there are good work with which I don't have any bonds : I just don't have any feeling for Fruit basket , I'm not particalurly fond of FMA , I was pretty bored by Slam Dunk ... But i'm not reluctant at all to acknowledge their qualities : they're good sometimes excellent but i don't like them . This is what taste is about . This is quite different from quality . Difference between tolerance and hypocrisy .

Someone who says almost everything is better than Berserk and just after that try to defende himself awkwardly with this lame defense for kids and teenagers about " taste" has no credibility whatsoever . 😐

I said someone who says this has no credibility . I still think it . If someone told me Citizen Kane is a piece of shit which has played no influence in movie history it would be the same . You can say you didn't like it but you can't challenge its importance.
It has nothing to do with you in particular , nor with my mood just with reason and bear no grudge against you . I stated plainly a quite obvious state of fact .
If you disavow this statement , stating it as a joke , then it makes it even more obvious . You can always chastise , reestimate ,etc... But there are also things obvious and one just can't going against them without being disregarded. Once again it has nothing to do with you .
