And I mean, it isn't that hard to make a good ending.
If you need to kill off the main character in the end, just make sure it makes sense.
I don't think endings are as easily as you think. And just killing off the main character doesn't always make it good.

Um, I do understand the process of storytelling.
Right now one of my courses in college is script writing, and before that I've taken Writers Craft and all the other writing courses in High school.
I'm trying to point out that it is hard to make a really bad ending.
You can piss off the audience in the end but as long as it "makes sense" it is good no matter wither you liked it or not, as long as it works with the story it is a good ending.
And I didn't say killing the character makes it good. I'm pointing out that although a lot of people get upset when the main character dies int he end, as long as it makes sense it is appropriate.
There are movie with horrible endings where the main character dies, and its bad because there was absolutely no reason for the main character to die. 🙄

I chose"middle, end." The meat of the story is what happens in the middle, and the events during that time build toward the climax at the end. Although I love a good beginning, it's what happens afterward that makes or breaks the story.

Newfag here.
If the art is awesome i dont care, but storywise the beginning and the end are the most important parts for me.
Although the middle IS important, a good end can save a manga from eternal damnation even if the middle sucks, gets mildly repetitive or too complex (nothing can save longrunning manga that just repeat the same fight or story over and over and over and over again..)
A manga with overall nice story quality would be nice, but at least there should be some good art (king of hell) or fan service (tenjou tenge, battle vixen, love hina). Also open ends tend to suck if the manga stops before a long anticipated climax is reached (megafail: in a love story they dont even get to kiss -_-)

The beginning of course, if its not a good beginning I won't want to finish the manga and if the ending is going to be good then I can endure all the crap in the middle (sucker for happy endings 😛 )
No one gives a shit what trite garbage you write here.

i vote: beginning. ending...
because i usually get excited about it at the start, get bored, annoyed or addicted to it in the middle, and then go emotional about it in the end...
only the beginning and ending is the same whatever manga i read!
oh please do click this!

With me, the first impression is really important. I will pick up a manga to read if that series has good rating, positive comments from other readers, good art and good beginning.
The middle parts are important too, of course. As long as the author does not drag it, I will still follow the manga. I prefer not-so-long series.
And the ending, I want a good ending or not ending at all. A bad ending dissappoint fans and spoilt the series.
P.S: Dr.Love, I think one more option "Beginning, Middle, Ending" should be nice.

Unfortunatly for me if the begining of a manga has to be good or then i usualy drop it even if people say its good. Rarely do i ever read a manga that doesn't make an impresion on me at the beging. If it gets boring through the midle i drop it....as much as i hate terrible endings...beging and midle are most important for me to actualy read it to the end. even if it has a bad ending and the rest was good, ill still read to the end because i was hooked.
how do read a manga with bad a begining unless your bored or someone has pushed you to do so. 😕
beginingg and middle! hate bad endings but on large scale the end doesnt keep me reading it right?

I believe in letting people do as they wish, as do I myself. Sometimes, of course, what I wish to do is kill them and they do not wish to die. This gives life interest.
