corpral Randel Oland's (Pumpkin Scissors)scar across his face.i mean hes entire body is covered in scars, but that one really stands out.

Kenshin ftw. Not only does it look badass on an assassin, but the story behind it (anime much more so than the manga) can be pretty depressing.
Luffy's cheek scar is cool in my book because it's the only major one that I can think of that is literally self inflicted. And the reasons behind it are pretty admirable (albeit a bit stupid).
Vash the Stampede: In his case quantity is a reflection of quality. Take into consideration the fact that most of them were probably taken by choice and he gets my vote.
Kakashi: Similar to Kenshin, but not as ironic.
I'll save a spot for anyone else worthy that I can think of.

Yeah, it's got the deepest backstory. I mean, what other scars have like...a whole anime series (ok maybe not the whole, but most of, IMO) based on it, and be as super depressing?
