Sigh, I'd just say love is the long-term form of infatuating, surely not as intense but a deeper, more certain caring. To some it can be something else, I don't know if I've ever been in love, maybe I've felt some deep deep caring feelings, willingness to sacrifice for another etc, but it's not guaranteed that it will last. Then again, it sounds illogical that love is love only if it has lasted certain amount of time. I will use the words "I love you" to say that "you are special to me, more than most people around me, I care deeply of you, I wish for your happiness" and crap like that. Also applies for family members, not just for romantic relationships. I find it difficult to determine when a feeling can be called love, and I also find it a bit irrelevant. Simply it's just that next, more lasting step from a crush. As for love at first sight, I don't believe it.

If you want to define love as an unconditional feeling of affection for some thing, then I love my cats. They are innocent no matter what they do, and I wouldn't get tired of them. Therefore I love them, but I wouldn't call it passionate or anything.

Love? I don't know, but I've accepted that I'm in love. Though I still have trouble saying it. Growing up, to admit you loved something was to admit defeat.
