I put it in my pocket? Neither but I would never buy an expensive one and use them till they are about to fall apart.

Neither. I don't worry about cosmetic damage since I'm not planning to resell, and the phone is too durable to be seriously damaged by dropping. I don't know what would inflict meaningful damage on it that a case would also protect it from. The case also adds unnecessary bulk when carrying the phone in a pocket.

Both... I am way too careless of a person not to do both... And my phones aren't the cheapest too

Used to use both, but phone screen is way stronger compare to old phones so now I only use a casing mmm...

Casing with rubber edges is necessary for me since I drop it like once a week mmm...

I was about to say both, then I looked at my phone and realised I never bothered to buy a screen protector, so case only. Whatever, I've dropped my phone millions of times, and there is still not even a single crack! Screen protectors are pretty annoying, anyway.

I had just a case for the longest time, until it popped open and my screen broke. Got a screen protector after that

both, once had a tough luck, just happened to remove the case, cracked(not the screen)3 sides out of the 4 lol. and use a screen protector too, they are clear enough, that you dont notice them that much if you dont pay attention, and the way i think of them, they are a cheap "screen replacement" without actually replacing the screen. i had a previous that didnt have a screen protector, it accumulated so much micro stratch, that it looked like it was greasy all the time, so now i prefer to have them

I'm super clumsy, so a drop proof case is an absolute must for me, and I love the peace of mind a screen protector gives even though I hate applying them with the intensity of a thousand suns.

I've never broken the screen on any of my phones, but many times with previous phones I've cracked or occasionally scratched the screen protector, and when that happens I feel like without the screen protector it likely would have been the screen itself instead, so having that replaceable (if annoying to apply) layer of protection is extremely reassuring and saves me a lot of anxiety.

On my current phone the edges have enough of a bevel that all the screen protectors I've tried have at least a few bubbles around the corners, which doesn't really matter but damn I hate it, and so far I haven't scratched or cracked the screen protector at all, but I still don't feel like taking the risk of damaging my actual phone since I don't have a ton of cash to repair or replace it.

Even if money wasn't an issue, the one time I was without a phone for a while when a previous one needed repairs was absolute hell; the incredible anxiety of not having it to look at when I'm waiting for things or bored, to look things up, to contact people, or to get directions if I get lost was overwhelming; it made me feel so vulnerable.

I have tried, on a few phones, and something always happens that makes it almost irrelevant. After that $70 (CAD) Otterbox case broke in one year (with my parents' $10 cases both still working for the same phone model), I gave up. Maybe next phone.

Screen protector is something I highly recommend.

Screen Protector only. Modern cases are too unwieldy for my tastes.

This is definitely one of the gripes I have with phone cases. What's the point of a slim phone if the case forces me to use it two-handed half the time?

Maybe it's just because I'm cheap, but $70 for a case feels like highway robbery. At that price point they should offer a lifetime warranty, your phone should be bricked long before the case gets any serious damage.

My current case was I think $17? For my past couple of phones I've used a poetic guardian case, and I feel like it strikes a nice balance between not adding significant bulk to the phone with good quality protection.

But I might just be looking for different things in a phone since my complaint about phones isn't how thick they are (I think they're currently slim enough and would rather they be more durable than thinner), but with how with each new generation I swear the screens keep getting bigger and bigger (at least with budget phones), and these damn mini-tablets don't fit well if at all in most of the pockets on women's pants. That's not something the case makers have any control over though.

Neither - I use a cell phone wallet. It's similar to those tablet folios where the lid folds over the tablet to cover up the face and protect it when not in use. The wallet also allows the phone to be propped up for hands-free viewing in landscape mode.

Case without screen protector, but only because I was too late. I happened to bring the new phone when my parents' fur baby was very active, and it got a lot of scratches from that day. I got my current case for very cheap ($1 for two) it does the job well though.
