Is this your favorite anime?

I think this anime is alright but I meet this kid who is obsessed with C.C and the show. I personally think it is great but not the best. If you think the same as me please specify what is a better or if you love it specify why.
I like Gankutsou more than Code Geass because it is more in depth and I love the story.

Geass is great, but it's definitely not the best ever. I would go ahead and argue that it has a pretty high level of depth, but it occasionally tends to detract from its own value by either having random, nearly incoherent plot twists or ignoring character development in favor of more mecha action.
My favorite is probably Evangelion. Even now, I still haven't seen anything come remotely close to the level of brilliance it has. And yes, I am all for realism over people actually caring about the characters- regardless of what you may think of him, Shinji is by far the most realistic lead we've ever had in a mecha, if not anime in general.
Regardless, this thread is kind of pointless. I mean, basically everyone's going to have a different favorite. If you want a short answer, I believe that Geass polled as the top anime last time animage had that sort of poll, but it changes a lot and depends on fads as much as actual popularity. If you don't agree with the person, either don't talk about it with them or don't argue. "The best" is an entirely subjective notion anyway.

The best is a touchy subject but wanted to know what you think is the best. In thoughts of other anime.

Ah, in that case, we already have this thread, and countless others with a similar purpose. I'm basically just confused as to why this is in the Geass section, that's all.

lelouch or whatever his name is, is probably the most BADASS character ever. holy shit. do you know the balls it takes to murder your first love in cold blood, and hug/smile at the man who killed your second love while your crush is probably being tortured? then having another girl that you care for attempt to kill herself and then lose all her memories? This man's hate knows no bounds. Talk about forsaking EVERYTHING for the pursuit of one magnificent goal. That incredible heartless bastard is enough in itself to make it one of my all time favorite anime. Not only that but he is a genius tactician and manipulator, which is cool because manipulating people is so damn entertaining.
not only that, but karin and c.c. are probably two of the coolest female characters ive yet to encounter. i mean cmon, CC, for once a mysterious girl that isnt a god damn open book. While karin just screams badass in a damn fine forceful way, with out that annoying tsundre quality... cough cough zero no tsukaima
^^my two cents, best anime ive seen, and i hope it never stops. its like the ocarina of time, of anime.

Because it is a question about Code Geass

Agree with Crenshinibon....
Besides, I was born fickle and my benchmarks keep shifting all the time. I can name quite a few anime series that I think blow Code Geass into oblivion.
Anyway, instead of all time, whattabout this year??.... Nope, not the best either. I rank stuff like Kaiba and Kurenai higher than Geass. Another one is Kara no Kyoukai (technically not a 2008 show, but DVD rips/raws are only starting to become available) which I think is simply beautiful.
If you actually sat down and analyzed Geass beyond the sensationalism, you'd notice lots of holes in the plot (which the creators mask pretty well by keeping the scripting/pacing tight).... but that C.C and Karin chicks are hot, though.
Just my 2 Britanian pence.
P.S... @Battlerenji.... Yeah, despite it's flaws, GankutsuOu is clearly superior to Code Geass (R1+R2), IMHO.... but I'm biased coz the Count de Monte Cristo is probably my fave classic novel ever.... It's got everything:... the bitterness of betrayal, the insecurity that comes with solitude, the innocence of young love, the sweetness of revenge, the emptiness that comes after....etc.

I guess I just still don't see the difference between "what is your favorite anime over Code Geass?" and "what is your favorite anime?". It just doesn't make sense unless the essential question is actually "Why do you like Code Geass?" which really doesn't have much to do with favorites in the first place. But I digress, and it doesn't really matter anyway.
@Gan: Most of Kara no Kyoukai has been released in theaters this year- the first one came out at the end of last December, so I think it's fair to include it. I still haven't watched Kaiba (I really should, I've been meaning to) but I would agree that Kure-nai and Kara no Kyoukai are generally better than Geass R2 (I'd have to think about R1 though. Maybe just Tsuukaku Zanryuu).
EDIT: Oh, and Jucifer- it ends completely after episode 25 of this season. Okouchi (the head writer) already said he wrote a definitive conclusion. It suppose it's possible that there could be a Gundam SEED-style movie remake or a possible adaptation of the Nunnally manga (VERY unlikely), but for now Geass will be ending in September.

It's good.
But it's not my favourite.
😐
It's my favourite currently ongoing anime... but that's not saying much. I don't watch that much anime anymore. I liked Season1 more than 2.

well, i for one think of CG as the best anime. why? cuz this anime tells of a normal student taking on the world's most powerful man. the king of brittania aka his daddy.
yea..he's not normal.. he got geass, but geass is useless without his intelligent mind. he don't use geass willy nilly. he planned how to use them.
and the mech is just awesome. first season, it couldn't fly until almost the end of the season. on second season, everybody can fly and moar uber mech came up.
and there's "love to hate susuckku" factor. i hate that guy, but not for his stupid stunt(using refrain? wth?). i hate him cuz he thought he could change the world from within.
sum up those, and it gave me the best anime show ever. beside, don't tell me you never thought of waging war across the world and manipulate everybody into being your army to fight for you. you sat back and laugh while those fools fights for you.
except, lelouch made a move in the battlefield too. so Plus more "best" factor.
Let's get Kickin' ...whatever that means

There was no original manga- all of the manga adaptations are based on the anime.
