It seems like alotta older mangas were big influences to newer mangas. I wanta see where you guys have noticed this. For me, I think it's pretty obvious that Berserk was a strong influence for Claymore. Also, although it's a little unnoticeable, I think Naruto borrowed a few key elements from Berserk.

Berserk: Gutts and Griffith are kinda friends/rivals. Caska hates Gutts and loves Griffith. Griffith is much stronger than Gutts at first, but later on Gutts fights Griffith again and Griffith realizes he's overpowered. Griffith's then captured and Gutts and the rest of the Hawks have to go rescue him. Griffith betrays the Hawks and turns into a winged lipstick monster (sorry, stole that joke from hbi2k, creator of Berserk Abridged). Caska starts to notice and respect Gutts more. (sorry, got the events kinda outta order.
Naruto: Sasuke and Naruto are friends/rivals. Sakura loves Sasuke but hates Naruto. Naruto eventually becomes stronger and beats Sasuke. Sasuke runs away with the enemy and Naruto has to rescue him. Sasuke betrays leaf village and turns into a winged lipstick monster. Sakura starts to show more interest in Naruto

Also, it seems like Yu Yu Hakusho was hugely influence by DB, and Bleach was influenced heavily by Yu Yu Hakusho.

I've never read Berserk, but from your spoiler it makes naruto seem like a total ripoff of berserk!

As for other series, i haven't consciously noticed anything but after reading this topic im sure to find some 😛

Death Note > Lost + Brain, MPD Psycho

Dragon Ball > All modern action shonen.

And the situation you just described w/ Berserk and Naruto, happened several times in DB and DBZ (Vegeta/Goku, Tien/Goku, Yamcha/Goku, Krillin/Goku... you get the trend right)

Yeah, but it's moar fun to pick on Naruto. 😀 Besides, the whole "rescue the rival" thing never happened in DB. Plus there was no annoying chick that first likes the rival then latches onto the protagonist.

Death note couldn't have influenced MPD Psycho, since MPD psycho was created before death note.

uh i believe when vegeta went majin, goku was trying to save him and i also believe vegeta said he let himself get taken over so he can fight goku. sounds familiar? naruto is seriously a mirror of dragon ball and dragon ball z

For Gender in profile... I was reading a manga and I realized the character is Female/Hermaphodite/Alien. why is there no option for that? lol

They didn't have to literally chase after him though. But that is a good point, since it is very similar with Sasuke going emo. VEGETA NEVER TURNED INTO A WINGED LIPSTICK MONSTER THOUGH!!! 🙁 That woulda been so cool. But I guess we can all agree that Kishimoto is great at stealing other people's ideas. 😀

well after dbz, nobody had to hold back on making their series main character too powerful, cuz goku already took it beyond ridiculous proportions.

Ashita No Joe > Hajime no Ippo
Slam Dunk > All the other deliquent based sports mangas (ie. Rookies)
One Piece > Fairy Tail
Berserk > Shin Angyo Onshi (though SAO's better in my book)
GTO > Gokusen
Fullmetal Alchemist > Death Note (though probably not true...it seems like it, btwn. the genius protagonist, supernatural and dark tragedy themes in a shounen)
Yu Gi Oh > all the other stupid ass animes/mangas about dueling

You're right, my bad. Should've been the other way around but I'm too much of a DN fanboy to admit it.

Moar examples:

Neon Genesis > RahXephon, Eureka Seven

I know someone will hate me for this one. Gundam Seed > Code Geass

Gantz >>>>>>> Psyren (extra arrows to emphasize how infereior the latter is)

Adding Bokurano to the NGE.

Seed would be true (hey, I'll admit they're similar, Geass did it better though), but Geass' script and the like has been in production since 2002 (it might be 2001, I'd have to check the date on the interview where the head writer said it had been 6 years), so that one's actually impossible [/fanboy]. I'm not sure if it's more sad that I know that, or that I'm actually bothering to point it out -_-;;.
