New Poll - April Fools' Scanlator Jokes

This week's poll is from me (so the choices aren't really the best, but deal with it). I realized we had never done a poll about all the fake releases scanlators put out there, so might as well!
You can submit poll ideas here (and try to keep them manga/anime-related)
http://www.mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?tid=3903
Previous Poll Results:
Question: Are you a registered member of MU?
Choices:
Yes, and I consider myself an active part of the community - votes: 579 (6%)
Yes, but I just lurk and use the member-only features - votes: 5761 (59.7%)
Nope - votes: 3318 (34.4%)
There were 9658 total votes.
The poll ended: April 3rd 2015
Those of you who aren't members, you might wanna consider it so that you can use lists and release highlighting.

The most annoying thing about April fools are than scanlation groups put so much energy into it while they ignore real releases. Because of this the amount of releases dropped, you could notice it that the amount of releases dropped on that day. >:-(
Even after dead, we raise from the ashes for the sake of manga.
I honestly don't mind them, its literally one day of the year(hopefully) that they release it and it really doesn't hurt anyone.
Also the Monster musume one was okay good drawings 10/10
i read stuff.. usually alot of stuff

I actually didn't know about these jokes... do they translate it wrong? Or make you download a file that in the end is not the manga?

I actually really love April Fools' scans, especially if they're done so seamlessly.
The river of life is magnificent and dangerous.
I can't say I hate them since I'd probably try something similar if I were in the scanlators' shoes. But I come from a culture where things like April Fools are not considered particularly laudable, so I don't really look forward to joke releases either. It would be ungrateful of me to find the scanlators' jokes annoying, so I read the ones I come across even though I don't find them funny and I don't participate in the accompanying 'celebration' of other readers. I'd prefer if the fake releases weren't there but since they are, I choose to mostly ignore them.

I basically don't mind...
those aren't harming you anyway...And I've witnessed many worse jokes and Pranks, people pulling on others ~!
@dalek - A popular one is editing a chapter, which one that specific group is doing, as they wish (e.g. editing the bubbles or mixing different pictures together), like various kinds of funny memes you come across daily...and giving that chapter the #(number) of the upcoming chapter...for example : try making a One Piece chapter like this and upload it somewhere(mangareader sites) as Chapter 783...^^
P.S. Okay...don't actually do it, I'll be troubled...^^
For Reference:Imperfect scans did it with The Ruler Of The Land Chapter 384 ~!

My dislike for April Fools day goes back to when no one checked the releases (10+ years ago?) and it led to disgusting photos. Mostly from the older aggregate sites. April 1st is just a day I ignore now for manga and anime viewing. 😢
I database need to stay trash free of course but i as a human being don't mind as i have bigger problems and they are very easy to spot. Hello IGN! These jokes are also very repetitive which is kind of worse.
Can someone recommend me a good April Fools release as the one for Wolf Guy a few years ago was something else. I then read it all so the fool is me...
I also read EU/US comics and am a librarian.

You said it yourself. Don't blame the scanlator, blame the idiots earning money on the stuff scanlator makes without even checking the releases. I remember my previous group where we had a 3 day rule before uploading to online readers. Somehow people couldn't understand what we said so they uploaded it as soon as we released. So what did we do? We released a fake release and then 3 days after released the right now. The idiotic uploaders never got it until the people started screaming at them. Of course after some apologies later we went back to normal releases and the same 3 day rules. Sometimes actions are needed to make other people understand. Harsh but true. ^^

Oh interesting, which culture is that? 😮

I think it has more to do with how many of the manga chapters you read with how many times you in reality thank the group for the work they did on the chapter. If you can read the chapter then you can thank the group too. A "thank you" should be sufficient. You don't know how much it means for us and the title you read.^^
I like April's fool as long as they are done right. Inserting pictures of dicks or boobs is not the proper way to make an april fools release. The same with any other idiotic release. I saw a release where they put the dude from NorthKorea and their flag in nearly every bubble. I didn't find it funny but instead boring as hell.

Well, maybe they could be taken down the next day. Just have a rule where the people who report what's essentially a joke must contact this site the next day to have them taken down or edited.
-No longer do I quote great scholars, the famous, etc. Kids feigning wisdom ruined it.
--I wont type a post like a college report. If you don't read it just for that reason, you don't have to post why your hoity-toity ass refused to. I swear, so many people on this site are so full of themselves. A lot seem to think they always have an "intelligent and/or logical" point or show signs of a superiority complex. They never admit they're wrong. Maybe partially, but excuses abound! :\

It's one day out of the year. It's not as if members are going to quit coming here (I don't think there's another site like this anyways) because of a few false releases. If people really get that upset over a manga, they should consider finding a new hobby or seeing a counselor lol. It's shouldn't bother people that much. Yeah, it can be annoying, but that should be about it. I wouldn't go crying about it on a message board or anything. Even if it was my favorite manga, I wouldn't get that upset. It would be an "aww man..." moment.
Seriously, if somebody can't take a joke or the stress received from their hopes being crushed, then life as an adult sure is going to be hard for them 🤣 🙄
Now don't get me wrong. There are some things that can be quite annoying and immature, like others have stated with in insertion of pornographic pictures. Still, it's only one day. So long as scanlators don't go too far with it, I don't see why it'd be a problem. You'd just have to be wary for one day (God forbid).
Things like posting a non-existent chapter or an outrageous number of chapters (i.e. "c.25-238") wouldn't be bad. Or purposefully mistranslating it while making it tastefully comedic would be good as well. Personally, I'd try to make the reader laugh more than I'd try to trick them, but that's me. Some people would get a bit cruel, I'm sure, but there would just have to be certain boundaries put into place. Just your basic, reasonable, easy-to-follow rules. 😎

You guys should have added a " I MAKE THEM JOKES" or a "HUE HUE" Voting Option hahaha. I'm pretty sure the ones who troll are having a blast. Also, it's a good way for the ones who actually put some effort to blow off some steam dontcha think?

I mostly ignore them but I can become a bit annoyed with some of them if it is a series that I really like and it's only one fake page. There have been some funny fan fiction ones that I could laugh about but having chat speak or however the hell that gibberish is called text is not fun. Although I'm alright with people doing jokes like that, it's not like I'm going to spam them with angry posts about the release.

I hate april fools day. Everything gets flooded with garbage releases while real releases are delayed because they are trying to lure people into the trash.
