It depends on my mood whether I'm afraid of death or not. Sometimes I'm like, "I don't know what happens to me after I die, and that scares me. What if I'm still stuck in my body while I'm being buried or cremated? Or what if I stop existing?" Other times, I think, "So tempting to find out the answer to what death is like... and if we really do just stop existing, it's not like we're going to feel it, so meh."

But, ya, like some people say, all living things have a survival instinct. Animals might bite off a limb to escape from a trap to stay alive. The whole mating thing is to preserve species from dying out.

Mmm... I've already had so many near-death experiences so far though. There was the car accident when I was still in my mother's womb, almost drowning, almost getting my head crushed, and some other stuff. Oh, but I've never had those "life flashes before your eyes" experiences in any of them.

Just my opinion. Of course I treasure things in my life, that's why I can let go when the time comes cause I know I've lived my life the best I can. Maybe if I have kids, I wouldn't be so carefree about death. But I'll be selfish for now.

I'm not afraid of being dead. I'm not religious; once I'm dead I'm gone & won't know/feel anything - nothing to fear there.

The actual process of dying, yeah, that's scary. 😔

Well, you know that we can only base our points of view on our own experience. The one moment in my life I actually risked being killed scared me shitless, and that's where my point comes from. But it is a point that the overwhelming majority of people adhere to.

Maybe I (=majority) simply haven't seen those trees you're talking about. Except for history or fiction, that is. That's where we've got loads of fearless heroes and martyrs.

I'm not religious, I don't think there is an afterlife or anything. I could be wrong, of course, but I really think the time we have alive is all the time we have, so why waste it being scared ofsomething we can't stop? I'm not scared of dying, but I am scared of how I will die (I'm scared of dying painfully), or if I will leave someone dear to me behind (I don't want my loved ones to suffer because I'm gone).

With the idea of reincarnation in mind, I'm also scared that my next life could be worse than this one (not that this one's bad of course).

The Grim Reaper can go bite me 😛 I accept the fact that when I die is when I die. I can't change anything about it, so that's my thought. Some people think of me as an emo if I were to say that out loud. I'd probably end up seeing a psychologist because my school and parents are weird about that stuff.

Yea, that's the scary part, although you won't be there to know it so it wouldn't make much difference. It's worse when people are happy when you die.
