Depends. I don't watch adaptions very often. If the fillers suck then usually the manga is overall better anyway. But yeah, it depends. I love Gintama fillers for example. That's an example of a high quality anime even thought it's an adaption. Adaptions can be both good and bad and if they're good the fillers are likely to be good too.
Far-off places with sweet sounding names.

I couldn't stand the first FMA anime. It just got more and more ridiculous and depressing.
I heard the manga was different so I read it- and it was just worlds better.
When an anime deviates from the original work its essentially just filler forced to be canon.

Well the plot often isn't that bad (for non-fillers), the only deal breakers for me are grave differences in personalities induced by the plot or otherwise.
So yeah, unless it sucks too much I would continue, never stopped watching yet though...
and if it diverges while keeping important characteristics etc. that's like additional chapters for the manga that never get published, so I'm really fine with that, why have less if you could have it all? :3

I don't really watch anime any more, I stick to manga. But if for some reason I do start one, then I'll finish it.

I fucking hate it when this happens. It occurred with Desert Punk and Elfen Lied. Its bullshit when they change the story to meet the generic TV program design or to satisfy the censors. I only watch those animes if I haven't reached that point in the manga or if I really, really liked the manga.
-No longer do I quote great scholars, the famous, etc. Kids feigning wisdom ruined it.
--I wont type a post like a college report. If you don't read it just for that reason, you don't have to post why your hoity-toity ass refused to. I swear, so many people on this site are so full of themselves. A lot seem to think they always have an "intelligent and/or logical" point or show signs of a superiority complex. They never admit they're wrong. Maybe partially, but excuses abound! :\
