Well i would have to say by Western translation everyone here is an otaku because you are obsessed with something to the extent that you have scoured the internet to find it because your country doesn't have it. i also don't see the problem with hobbies or obsessions especially if they are something that can be shared. my friend and i are always talking about anime and have even gotten people that didn't like it in to it I also dislike that people say something is socially "unhealthy" because i have no problem with going out and hanging with friends but im not gonna hang out with a bunch of strangers with none of the same interests just cuz others say its socially healthy. i just dont understand what people have against hobbies i mean people with hobbies do have social lives they do communicate they also stay busy instead of just sleeping witch is what most people do when they are bored sure it can get a little "strange" but whats wrong with strange is this society so shallow that every one needs to be the same i know i sound like every other teenager out there but the problem is all the teens that say stuff like this don't actually follow through with what they say then scrutinize others for being different. i just dont get it.
also being an otaku under Japanese translation is really just an offensive word towards a culture of people and is used in a demeaning manner. its kinda like the N-word.

Why must we talk about otaku? 😔
If you'd like, we can all go to the chatter box and talk about J K Rowling, or spam introduction threads.

Anyhow, NHK ni Youkoso! comes to mind.
NHK is depressing, though. Maybe he's right?
I am the God of Freedom. I am not revered, I have no shrines; and you have never before heard of me nor will you ever hear of me again.
that guy didn't even like anime/manga, he just have social withdrawal

I didn't state which character I was referring too ^_^
Though, even the main character has his fair share of playing h-games, etc.
I'd link a picture of his otaku friend's apartment, but I cant be bothered to upload one and it would probally need an 18+ warning too.

haha holy cow in my skool there is a group and my group is near there in the morning and so sometimes you would hear them scream.
I also used to be friends with one of them...but we kind-a went different paths but now i have a class with her and she talks about her group a lot.
she talks about how they have someone else inside of them (kind-a like a spilt personailty) but its not people, its like vampires or werewolves......

lots of words
Like we've said. Being obsessed with something isn't necessarily bad. It becomes a problem when you begin neglecting your hygiene and health for it. Nobody wants to hang around a stank ass freak. I imagine the majority of us here do fit the definition of otaku in some form or another, but the amount that forsake a bath for it is almost neglegible. That's extreme and the basic meaning of otaku. How many of us are that?
Sarcasm just doesn't work over the internet.
