So does anyone else think that Ikegami and Harada will be the next two people that Gantz would bring, or will something happen on the next mission that'll force Kurono to save them? Either way, I hope that Ikegami and Harada die, cause Kurono already went through enough shit without having to revisit his past. Not to mention that unnecessary comment by Ikegami calling Tae homely

And what the hell's with the 17-page chapters? It was always around 24-25 pages. I think that Oku is trying to stretch out the story even more than usual...

Character development? Not everything has to be related to the action portion...

It was showing that while Kurono may be a hero in the story, in reality he's still nothing more than a weak punk who can't do much of anything. He's been struggling with that the entire story, the Tae portion just went a little off base, so this is probably trying to set him down that path again.

Possible, if not probable that they will somehow see him again and have a different impression, but it's not really necessary.

I would argue that this chapter was a lot more meaningful to the story than 90% of the action chapters we get, so I don't really think that this is a sign he's trying to stretch it (maybe 15 or so chapters of the last arc were though).

Well, I'm glad for the character development and all, but when the pages of the chapter are shortened down, it makes it seem like there should've been more of it, instead of just ending it abruptly like that.. It was like the last chapter, Oku could've shortened the reunion, or not show him at school, and show a bit more about Kurono's life.

I think that shortening the chapters really hurts the storytelling now.

Dammit people, I was only disagreeing about the decision that Oku made to go from 25 pages per chapter to 17 pages per chapter. I wasn't downing the character development or the plot development, it just didn't make any sense as to why he shortened the amount of pages. Those extra pages could fit in more character development or plot development.

The source of the confusion stems from your "what was the point of this chapter?" comment and the following paragraph.

Anyway, does it really matter? Perhaps he has to shorten the chapters to avoid taking a sabbatical. The pacing really doesn't feel all that different to me, and he's still been able to express the section of the story. Personally, I don't see anything to complain about, but that's just an opinion.

I think what they're trying to do is throw moar conflict at Kurono. Other than the main conflict in the story, he really doesn't seem to have many problems. I personally can't wait to see what kinda shit will happen with these two.

Oh, just thought of another reason this guy mighta been introduced: there's no real "asshole" character anymore. It started out being Kurono, then switched to Izumi, but now there's really no ultra-duchebag other than Nishi.

personally i think those 2 are going die and be apart of the gantz team i mean hiroya introduced alot of his character outside of the fighting arcs the only ones he hasnt are the old man, raiko, and that other actor/model person

This isn't a fucking filler. It's probably going to turn out to be a very important part of the manga, since they're introducing two new characters that will most likely play a big role in Kurono's life. Just becuz there's no action in a particular chapter, doesn't mean it's not important, and certainly doesn't mean it's a filler. If you want mindless action with no character development, quit reading Gantz, and I'd advise that you stay out of the seinen demographic altogether.

Funny how people there are people are lovely only the action chapters and those who have grown so tired of them they don't want to see any action for a while.

I thought this chapter rocks. But i'm appalled at the suspension of disbelief that the characters are suffering about the aliens being real... Who in their right mind would think they're CGI!!!!?
