I'm surprised that the burning desire choice has the most votes right now. I personally dislike that trait; just think of all the Naruto/Luffy/ and you'll probably understand, it's so annoying.
I like ingenuity because it's interesting and because not many characters seem to have that; testosterone overdose is the most common imo.

It has the most votes since a main character using any of the other traits would fail in most shounen worlds. Ingenuity comes in as a part of the desire to win, either you come up with better things or fail in the ladder of life.

I dunno. For me, probably ingenius characters who don't give up are my favorites, but I like characters who are somewhat heartless (let's say, money hungry) but do the right thing in the end. I don't like the emotionally broken type very often because they tend to be in angst-ridden stories, but they have their place.

Really, I think it depends. Hmm... and the "Hopelessly optimistic/cheerful" character is missing from the list. The type that, no matter what happens, just smiles and keeps moving on. It's a little different than "burning desire to succeed/refuses to surrender" I think, and that tends to be one of my favorites too.

I wonder if the Kindness and Honesty trait will win, because I voted for it and hope that those two qualities win...Doubtful though it may be, I value Kindness and Honesty nontheless.

I really like this poll idea, though I wish that the options could have covered more possibilities than just these few. I would have loved to see "self-less/lives for the sake of his/her friends" as an option (though I admit that it is not often found as the primary trait in manga protagonists, unfortunately.

However, as I know that there are others who were also unsatisfied with the options available, I have a suggestion. Perhaps you could have a series of polls set up like an elimination tournament. What I mean by that is that you have three or four different polls with as many options as possible, then take the top two of each of those polls and put them together in one more poll to try and find the number one character trait that people prefer!

I think that would be really fun, and I would love to see which one would come out on top!
